The Ampere RTX 3080 Ti Owners Thread

Got my RMA replacement delivered today. Pretty quick turnaround; sent it back on Monday and replacement received Friday. I was worried that it'd be awhile to get a replacement due to the shortage but I suppose that retailers keep some in the warehouse just in case? Haven't plugged it in yet but...

It actually took me half an hour to checkout due to 9 declines on my card once I had it in my basket

I got my Asus TUF 3080 Ti on launch day, I think you just have to be quick when they drop.

The Ampere RTX 3080 Ti Owners Thread

Ended up filing an RMA for my TUF 3080 Ti due to the horrific coil whine. I can take some coil whine but this was pretty ridiculous. It was tested and approved as faulty so just waiting on a replacement now from the retailer. Was in two minds about doing it but apparently stock is coming through...

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

I think the reviewers judging things on MSRP are fairly annoying to be honest. Yes, if we pretend we live in fantasy land where MSRP is a thing for all cards, the 3080Ti and 3070Ti are bad buys and the reviews hold up. However the reality is that this isn't the case and buying any card at MSRP...

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

Oh and just so you're prepared, if the card hasn't been dropped yet pressing the "add to basket" button will direct you to an empty basket screen, meaning you have to navigate back to try again. So if you want to mash it you might have to have several tabs open so that you can always be pressing...

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

Also make sure that your account address is the same as your delivery address and credit / debit card address, all three have to be in sync. You can update it on the account page. My account address was super old, which meant they kept declining my card despite the fact my delivery address and...

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

Doubt it, but if you can add multiple items to your wishlist and the wishlist add to basket button will attempt to add them all. So if you wanted to cover your bases you could add a few 3080 Ti / 3070 Ti to the same wishlist and then see what comes up after mashing the add to basket button :D

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

For anyone trying their luck today and is after an AIB card; I attribute my 3080 Ti success to the fact that I added the card I wanted to my wishlist before they dropped. You can then mash the "add to basket" button via the wishlist page. This puts you a step ahead of all the folks refreshing...

I'd be interested to know the equivalent noise levels for the same performance? Intuition would lead me to believe the FE has to spin faster and create more noise, but keen to hear.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

It does but if you have a fan blowing directly onto a metal plate it won't be able to move as much air over the radiators to keep the chip cool due to the pressure build up. With a 20 series FE most of the heat will expel either straight out of the case (as with the ncase M1 for example as it...

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

The size is fine, but the fan design just doesn't work in many small form factor cases. For example in my case one of the fans of the FE would be directly exhausting onto a metal plate with about 5mm distance between them. Very quickly becomes a hotbox. The FE design for the 20 series would be...

They'd definitely need to make more than just the FE if they did this. The FE design is an absolute no go in my sandwich layout case despite how nice it looks :(

Nice! I'd be interested to know how much they were selling it for? I was looking at the FTW3 in the past but after a good chunk of time with my tape measure I figured I'd never fit it in my case

I think they ruled out the raffle ticket / names out of a hat approach due to the difficulties skirting lottery laws.

Yeh it depends how nice you wanna be to people not reading the forums. Keeping the initial page the same gives non-forum members a shot too as they'd be unaware of the secret link and are probably camping out on the listing pages.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

Just to add another suggestion that might not be too difficult to implement (luckily I managed to snag a 3080ti last week so I'm not in the game): How about instead of updating the listing page by marking the item as available and letting bots just add it to the basket, you instead update it to...
