Thanks for the perspectives on the G29 vs T300. If I can find a reasonable priced one then sounds like the T300 GT is the way to go.
Would love to get into the Fanatec range but after jut building the PC the budget can't stretch that far.
Good time to find this topic.
Starting to get back into sim racing, mostly Assetto Corsa and Project Cars at the moment. Have been using a controller but whilst getting better its not been great so looking to get a wheel setup.
Is the Logitech G29 a good starter setup or it is worth spending...
All the items arrived at the start of the week and I've spent the last couple of evenings building it and getting setup.
Impressed at how easy it all went together, booted to BIOS the first time, but did need to reinstall Windows as it wouldn't recognise the previous installation.
Below are a...
The Standard SSD drive is one that I purchased last year to try and make my old Core2Quad system useable so just going to reuse it for the time being. may add a NVMe version at a later date and turn this into a storage drive.
An update, decided to blow any pretense of a budget out the window and went for the following:
My basket at Overclockers UK:
1 x AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 4.2GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail= £188.99
1 x MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi (AMD AM4) B550 ATX Motherboard= £179.99
Total: £380.08...
Thanks for the alternative view.
Have had a quick look and you're right can get a 10400 and z490 for less than a ryzen 3600. Certainly something to look at again then.
Which Z490 did you go for in the end? If you don't mind me asking
Thanks for the reply's.
I was all set for going down the Intel route but yesterday's announcement about B and H series boards not supporting 11th gen has made me think again.
Probably going to spend the bit extra and get the AMD set up.
Thanks again
Following on from this thread, I have now split and sold the majority of the old system and managed to secure a 3060Ti FE in the last drop this week!!! So now I need to make a decision and order the rest of the system.
Is the I5 10400/B460 still a good paring or is the RYzen 3600/B550 worth...
Time for a little update.
Having recently received a slightly bigger bonus from work I had thought again about building a budget PC again.
Was going to go for the spec (or similar depending on offers) suggested by Quartz but prices and availability have gone in the wrong direction by the looks...
Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate it is a very old system and it hasn't been used much in the last couple of years which may go towards the PSU not giving out just yet. Recently been trying to play on it due to having a bit more free time.
The money isn't necessarily the problem with...
Thanks both for your comments, kinda what I was thinking, would be a waste of money for a small improvement on the current system. Would a modern SSD even offer an improvement on original SATA compared to the existing 7200rpm HDD?
Thanks for the pointers for what to look for in either a budget...
Long time lurker looking for a bit of advice. I’ve recently been thinking of getting back into gaming, mostly older games at the moment, e.g. GTA V, Asetto Corsa, Project Cars. Trying to do it without spending a lot.
