Yeah I love this game also. Played it start to finish completing every mission over a matter of weeks. I have a Valve Index and 3090 but I doubt I'll get over 60fps if a 3070ti hits only 45! Not enough for smooth VR yet unfortunately.
As a 3090 owner this doesn't bother me at all... managed to mine half the cost of my card back in the winter/spring when Ethereum mining was most profitable. Also the difference between the 3080 and 3090 already shows diminishing returns. Can't imagine a super is gonna be any noticeable...
Highly recommend it. The gameplay and story is brilliant. Also it's only £16 on cdkeys which is an absolute steal for something I consider a Triple-A game. Getting to almost max level, doing all the side quests and the Frozen Wilds expansion got me to 55 hours. There's a new game+ mode also...
Wow, I used to love that game but remember giving up because I would spend more time trying to login to a full server than actually playing. Not too long ago I tried one of the many private servers but got bored quickly - it's certainly showing it's age now.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla now. 25 hours in and enjoying it. Fully completed Horizon Zero Dawn before that.
Had sunk 45 hours into Red Dead Redemption 2 before that but the Rockstar Launcher now refuses to accept I own the game because it was purchased through Steam... Resisting the urge to buy...
Half Life:Alyx - £919.
Before that probably the original Guild Wars - all the games, expansion and additional character / storage slots over the years. I imagine that was in the region of £200 so not really that bad for the 5,000 hours played.
Download HWiNFO and check your VRM temperatures. The core temps on the 3000 series stay fairly cool but the memory can run a fair bit hotter... the card will thermal throttle when the memory hits 110C but ideally you want to keep your memory temps some 20C lower than this for longevity.
@glcharlie these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08HMFFT7D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used 3 out of 4 of them on the hotspots around the GPU core.
Got my EVGA FTW3 ULTRA a couple of weeks ago. As long as I take the side off the case the memory temps don't go above 95C with the fans running at 80% whilst mining. However I've since bought that down to 85C with some cheap aluminium heatsinks on the backplate and a cheap USB desk fan blowing...
I don't feel so stupid buying my 3090 now... Got next day delivery from a competitor for an EVGA FTW3 ULTRA for £1,900 two weeks ago. I'll have mined the difference between this card and current 3080 prices long before the 3080's come back into stock. And I'll have a faster card at the end of it :D
Do you really need to change the paste/pads? I recently bought a 3090 EVGA FTW3 ULTRA and the temps are better than expected... The backplate is too hot to touch which suggests the pads are doing their job. Mining the VRAM never went above 92C originally and I've managed to bring that down to...
I would check your Skyrim graphics settings. I thought I had a similar jump in Jedi Fallen Order but turns out the graphics settings had turned themselves down following the update of the BIOS / GPU BIOS / Driver. Once I was back at max settings I was getting maybe an additional 5 fps at...
Cheers for the feedback @IICIIEII .That definitely sounds like an improvement! While 92C sounds a little toasty (some people with thermal pad replacements on the 3080 are hitting 85C max) from what I gather the 3090 can get hotter than the 3080 because the memory is on both sides of the PCB. So...
I'm waiting on a 3080 Aorus Xtreme from a competitor... has anyone received one recently who can confirm something for me?
Older posts say that the memory can top 110C when gaming (Cyberpunk for example). This is due to crappy thermal pads which degrade and leak oil. I don't really want to risk...
@Smiffy-UK did you ever get an answer from Gigabyte? I'm waiting on an 3080 Aorus Xtreme myself and don't know whether to cancel / try swap for a ROG Strix instead!
I won't name competitors obviously but I've had to pre-order elsewhere because OCUK (sensibly) stopped taking pre-orders. The place I've pre-ordered though, some guy ordered an RTX 3080 MSI Ventus 3X OC on 1st January and it's just been delivered. Sucks for those waiting here. I ordered mine a...
