for mining, my vcore is as low as it will go in Afterburner, 712mv. still get 64C. might not be the best die.

    30xx Series Founders Edition

that's it. does seem so. right, I have the 1.5mm on the backplate also, but I'm not sure they're doing anything after 3 re-uses (they didn't make much difference anyway). 2mm might be better. I've not had any problems with the backside pads, they just stick to the backplate. they also...

.. of course my 80 might be a lesser bin.

    30xx Series Founders Edition

yeah pretty sure the bigger cooler helps there, plus maybe the 90 dies are better bins (efficiency wise). the 3070 is also more efficient than 80.

mining eth, ~62-64C (undervolted). haven't tried a game yet (will tomorrow), maybe it scales better with load.

more adventures in GPU repaste land, in case it helps somebody. if you recall, I did my first GPU repaste (3080FE) recently, but didn't have good quality paste so lost a few degres. and it's fairly runny, so I was worried about pump-out over time (google it if needed). I bought some...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

I think there were reports from a few drops ago that they already ship with the BAR Bios. If not you can download it. Congrats everyone, feels good right?

    30xx Series Founders Edition

couple of things I learned about GPU repasting today (in addition to what was said): - you want a thick paste to avoid the 'pump-out' effect. this is when the repeated thermal cycles (on/off) gradually push out the thinner pastes from under the die and you end up with less and less paste doing...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

So I did the Thermal Odyssey 1.5mm repad, First attempt was the back, it mostly stopped the memory from throttling during eth mining, but only dropped a few degrees: Then I did the front - and like a total idiot managed to snap the lower fan's ribbon cable clean in two when I separated the...

did anybody bite the bullet on a 80TI? I think the price is crazy for the small perf increase, but I won't judge. also how long did they stick around? decent stockpile?

    30xx Series Founders Edition

The load can get spread out over cores if you have more cores than it needs, so you don't necessarily have one or more pegged at 100%. Games typically use a lot of threads, and they can end up on any core. Also from a programming POV (I do this code all the time), if the CPU is waiting for...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

I haven't done core OC, but mem seems fine +1250 in afterburner on mine (apart from temp throttling when ambient is warmer).

    30xx Series Founders Edition

btw, it's possible the other SKU's will drop tomorrow, and/or more of today's. no guarantees, but it's happened before, and a late-in-the-day drop may mean they haven't processed everything. keep an eye out tomorrow.

    30xx Series Founders Edition

they're on Auto in Afterburner, HWinfo is reporting them as ~2480 and ~2165 RPM right now. but even cranking them manually doesn't do much to the mem throttling.
