In a few mins you will have a chance to grab a 6800 or 3060Ti

It's purely the price. The card should have been £499 MSRP anyway but with the inflated price, no chance.

Using something like that isn't a bad idea. Helps out people who've been buying from here for years..and yes, I'm one of the ones who needs to upgrade.

The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

If you have Zen3 why would you turn off SAM?

The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

I watched the Codemasters Dirt 5 video and while its subtle, the shadow quality looked good and if they're to be believed it didnt cause that big of a performance hit. It will be interesting to see review results.

The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

What that says is that AMD could easily drop prices on certainly the 6800XT and 6900XT if needed as there's no significant manufacturing cost increase vs the 6800...it gives them ammo to fight against any Ti shenanigans from Nvidia.

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

To try and offset all the extra carbon from the atmosphere from Ampere's excessive power consumption?

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

I'll be running through a 4k 60 Hz TV or a while. Eventually will get an Ultrawide or higher refesh 4k but not vital for my usage.

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

I think this'll be my plan for now too. drop in a 3600 and add the saving into my graphics budget then upgrade CPU again within 12 months when enthusiasts are going gaga for Zen4. Of course what GPU remains up in the air. I wanted the 3070 but if AMD can push me up a tier at a similar cost then...

If only it would become available at that price. It really would be the ideal card for me.

PC Game Pass (was Xbox Game Pass for PC)

Yes, I have no trouble installing Store Apps and I allow Windows to update regularly. There just seems no rhyme or reason for it. It's not that I have a hardware or software issue preventing me from playing games, it's that the xbox app; won't allow the install to begin. It's to my C drive and I...

PC Game Pass (was Xbox Game Pass for PC)

I've done everything short of a fresh install so guess I'm going to have to bite that bullet.

PC Game Pass (was Xbox Game Pass for PC)

Gamepass Customer support is so frustrating. Installed the app two weeks ago, have not been able to install a single game and their tech support doesn't seem to have a clue what to do.

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

Well their most popular SKU has been Superceded by something 33% more expensive. It's not to say it's not a good performing CPU but the bottom end and 8 core have risen by more than double the amount the Ryzen 9's have.

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

He was annoyed about the same thing most people were who'd been waiting for the announcement. Not the performance (it looks fantastic on that front and not that there were price hikes (we'd been expecting them) but more at the way the sku's had been positioned. A 5600X instead of just a 5600...

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

They can't really do that to Nvidia until they start winning marketshare though. As with CPU's they'd have to establish a bit of market dominance in the enthusiast space first

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

There's way more profit in the GA100 pro cards though, they won't pass that up and they haven't got that many 7nm wafers to go around. AMD do have a lot more capacity there.

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

I imagine there'll be some sort of Nvidia Sku at about 2060 power and I would imagine AMD will finally produce 480/580 replacement at about 5700/XT levels

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

It's not really wild optimism though, is it. AMD's stated goal was to double performance of Navi 10. If it does that it actually comes out ahead of the 3080. I can't think of why they would undermine their own launch on the 28th by showing their best off at the tail end of the Zen3 announcement...

AMD Zen 3 (5000 Series), rumored 17% IPC gain.

You can run faster clocked memories and tighter timings than those benchmarks on Zen 2 or 3 also. So if you spend a lot on an aggressive cooling and fast ram on the 10900k you could do similar on Zen3 and negate the advantage.
