Thinking mine might be on its way out, it's started making a strange noise, don't know whether it's rubbing the fins or the bearings are starting to go. I can't see any bent fins but the fan was always off center and very close to them on one side. Not sure what to do tbh but I'm glad I didn't...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

Are you sure your CPU isn't supported? I've seen some people claiming otherwise, I'm on a 3600 myself which I wasn't planning to upgrade. That said, I don't play any of the currently supported games so I'm not too fussed but I will be if they start rolling out titles I'm interested in.

I agree, they made an assessment that setting a 110c cap would save them enough money on claims to make it not worth putting better pads in, which would be very cheap and easy. Unless they're counting on hardly anyone having a warranty in the first place due to scalpers etc.

    30xx Series Founders Edition

Completely agree, fingers crossed. Trust me the fans will let know when you hit the thermal limit, it's not a slight ramping up it's deafening. Even if you do it isn't going to damage your card. I read somewhere that the 110c limit was introduced in a driver update, so Nvidia obviously know...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

I also made the mistake of trying out the "optimize" button on nicehash aka frying pan mode, realised my mistake in about 5 seconds when my PC sounded like it was about to take off, maybe this is Nvidia's way of going "wtf are you doing? No!" for idiots like me. Yeah, the gpu fans don't make a...

    30xx Series Founders Edition

Spot on, I was shocked when I started mining and what I thought was a virtually silent card suddenly turned into a jet engine lol. Haven't experienced it in games or most benchmarks, but I'm only on 1440p.

    30xx Series Founders Edition

I wouldn't worry about it, those temps are normal for the 3090 and since you're lucky enough to have a warranty, (most don't rn so they've nothing to lose) it's not worth changing the pads imo. The guys changing the pads are mostly miners and a lot will still be running temps higher than you out...

Why are a lot of GPU's out of stock?

Yeah I didn't have much to choose from but I wasn't set on any case in particular so it was fine. I seriously feel for the builders right now since it was getting harder and harder as mine went along. Learned my lesson to buy everything at once next time.

Why are a lot of GPU's out of stock?

Its not only gpus, towards the end of my build I had to buy a ridiculously overpriced 1000w psu because there were none to be found, overpriced ram and I've been waiting for my monitor for three months. There are stock shortages on everything thanks to "covid".

I got mine by refreshing the nvidia shop page when I could be bothered, took about a week of occasionally checking, the drop didn't show up on any of the stock alerts even though there was stock for about an hour so its worth checking for yourself. That was months ago though, don't know what the...

I had the same thing with my 3090fe, slight coil whine, not too annoying but noticeable which has completely gone away after using the card for a couple of months.

    Second hand price insanity!

Maybe not, but they'd just be going from making hardly any 3000 series cards to making hardly any 4000 series cards so why not? Even crap cards nobody wanted when they were new have been flying off the auction site at stupid prices so I could see 3000 cards still being above rrp when the 4000's...

    Second hand price insanity!

What do you lads think are the chances that after the 4000 series hits second hand 3080/90's will still be selling over RRP?

    Second hand price insanity!

I didn't know that, thanks for the info, though I suspect they won't be much better than PP were in terms of making sure the buyer actually returns the item. Just want people to be careful when there are so many angry (rightfully) buyers about

    Second hand price insanity!

LOL, this is why I decided not to sell my card. I agree that scalpers are bad, but would you view me selling my slightly used 3090 at rrp as scalping? A lot of people would but I would only sell it if I managed to get a lower tier card (which I was originally aiming for) at rrp and didn't want...

    Second hand price insanity!

All I can say is that they almost always side with the buyer. I'm no expert though.

    Second hand price insanity!

Its possible for buyers to charge back the money through PP (don't know if I can mention payment services on here) for arbitrary reasons with no need to send the item back, meaning sellers are left out of pocket and their item. I had this happen with a guitar I sold, the buyer claimed it was...

    Second hand price insanity!

I’m sure this has been pointed out but selling expensive cards on the auction site seems pretty ballsy considering chargebacks etc. I thought about selling my 3090fe when I first saw the prices skyrocket but the risk of a chargeback months down the line really didn’t seem worth it. How do you...

The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

Yeah you're probably right there, I've had the same monitor on order from five different retailers since January lol. But I'm not hammering it anyway. I'm happy taking the slight hit in mining, temps in game, which is what I bought it for, are no problem. The card could fail for other reasons...

The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

Personally if I really wanted maximum performance I'd rather hammer the temps to destruction and need an rma than void my warranty, if I didn't have a warranty I would do it though. Right now I'm happy with a slightly lower hashrate and trying to improve things without opening it up.
