Not knowing the specifics of your deal it's hard to say if it's true or not - but often the lease deals are cheaper/better value than the PCP deals - it's just a mental barrier to get over the fact that you don't own, and never will own, the car. It's not suitable for everyone though.

I ordered one on the 19th of August. Delivery has slipped a number of times already, and is currently the first week in January.

Ask them to add it at the factory... I paid £125 for it on the order.

I see where you're coming from - I have to admit if I was spending £30k+ of my own money then I wouldn't be buying a GR. I'm only getting one because the lease deals are a bit crazy, and I have all my cash tied up in other projects at the moment, so the cash flow aspect works for me right now...

The GR is a hot hatch, all of the other cars you mentioned are not hot hatches. They are family cruisers/rep mobiles. For example The A4 190PS does 0-60 in 7.7 seconds, The GR does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. They cost ( roughly? ) the same amount of money - so yeah, you'd expect the bells and whistles...
