*** The Official HTC Windows Phone 8X (Accord) Thread ***

It's a pain :-( the number of times with my wp7 i've had my eardrums burst from a text message arriving during a quiet album are too many to count.

**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

You can set a proxy on the wifi connection, which I assume effects everything that uses a network connection on the phone. I can't see an option to set a proxy just for IE9 traffic.

CSS - repeat to the right only, possible?

You would have to do something clever with layered elements underneath the main 'logo' container. Or you could make a 1px high but super-wide gif (maybe 4000-odd pixels wide, enough to be wider than the widest monitor) and fill that red on the left 50% of pixels and transparent on the right...

Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

The shops on oxford street seem to. The OS looks nice, I like it. Orange midway between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road have 2 Mozart's and an Omnia 7 to try out, and more marketing memorabilia than a wedding show. They had phones available to buy when I went in yesterday evening. O2...

Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

I think they'll be pretty good at getting the apps rolling quickly, after all there's already hundreds of MS .net developers who don't need to relearn much to build apps for it. My worry is though that the apps will likely be a lower quality than iOS's, in terms of looks and usability...

Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

I'll keep my fingers crossed - I'd like to find out! The reviews look really positive considering its version 1 of a completely, completely new piece of software. I'm not at all put off by the lack of features - it won't take long for MS to catch up with ios/android. The whole organisation...

Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

I don't understand why there isn't more buzz for the launch. It's only 8 hours away! The OS, to me, looks absolutely brilliant - the smoothness looks on a par with iOS at least. Does anyone have any info about pricing/availability tomorrow? I can't seem to find anything anywhere apart from...

    Somewhere to eat in London

I think it's closed now. At least, unless they're doing some audacious refurbishment.

    Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

Right Where on earth did you get that from? Spot on FACT. Glad you're in agreement. And thanks for the QUOTE. I particularly enjoyed 'We know what happens every time we go to Old Trafford and the United staff. They are always going man to man with the referees, especially at...

    Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

I'm not with you... which part of my post are you saying 'yep' in (assumably sarcastic) agreement to?

    Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

Don't forget that Benitez has a dossier on absolutely everything. A few times in the past he's stated 'facts' like these that make even the best statistician fans in the country look stupid in comparison. I reckon he was just looking for a way to make Ferguson play fewer mind games, perhaps...

Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

I've been reading this thread for a while and thought I'd put in my experiences with coffee in the past 24months or so. First off, great thread siliconslave. It's pretty much the only reason I venture into GD nowadays, and the only thread I've read without feeling like I've wasted the last...

    Webserver firewall advice

Cheers atomiser, you've been a fountain of knowledge. Just out of interest, what's your dayjob? - I've gathered by now its network-based but is it specifically internet/datacentre-network-based?

    Webserver firewall advice

I'm ideally looking for one that rackmounts in 1u just for piece of mind (I think) more than anything - the thought of having a smaller non-rackmounted key piece of network hardware loose, lying on things in the datacentre fills me with worry. - I can see my thought pattern that each time the...

    Webserver firewall advice

The ones I've been looking at have been around about the £1500 mark - the cisco is slightly cheaper. Cheers Chris for that SonicWall - I haven't heard of them before but I'll check that out too. Atomiser all that info's great, it sounds like I can't really go wrong with a Juniper. I may well...
