It sounds a bit like a squealing pig! I capped various games at the display refresh rate (240 Hz), and it's improved considerably. There are weird moments when seeing loading menus in PUBG that it starts to squeal loudly. Hopefully, it settles; I've done a few extended burn-in sessions.

You're absolutely right. They control the supply and demand what they want. At some point, reality will hit the GPU market and the prices *must* come down.

Yeah, not sure I agree with the OP. The top-of-the-line cards have had massive discounts, but anything under a 3090 is the same price as at launch.
