    Monitors for working from home

I'm running MacOS so there's scaling built in.

    Monitors for working from home

Wouldn't turning software scaling on a 4k monitor provide for as large text/UI, but crisper text than a 1440p screen could provide?

    Monitors for working from home

As it looks like I'll be working from home semi-permanently, I've been given a budget by my work to upgrade my WFH setup. I'm wanting to spend a maximum of £600 of it on the monitor(s). I don't use my computer for gaming, media consumption - basically anything but work. For work, I'm pretty...

** The official Apple Watch Series 3 thread **

I’m thinking of getting a non-cellular version, but noticed the series 2 is still available and £50 cheaper. The differences seem to be that the 3 has a faster processor, more RAM, slightly improved Bluetooth and an altimeter. Given that everyone seems to describe the series 2 as snappy am I...

    load-balancer and access point recommendations

Thanks for the recommendation. Presumably, you're recommending the AC-Pro over the AC-LITE due to the extra 5Ghz speed?

    load-balancer and access point recommendations

Uptime - if one connection's down, theoretically, everyone can jump on the other - though in reality this tends to just overwhelm the other. There's very little anyone in the company can do without internet access. Anyway the contracts are all multi-year things so I'm just concentrating on...

    load-balancer and access point recommendations

I think one's 100Mbps and the other's 30Mbps, though could be wrong. Almost zero LAN traffic - everything's stored in Dropbox and shared from there.

    load-balancer and access point recommendations

At work we currently have two internet connections (Virgin and TalkTalk), each with their own wifi networks (using the standard consumer-looking routers), which are connected to by about 25 people in total. The problem is that people switch between networks, which often leads to one (and then...

    Candy Quiz

So I just spent a productive lunch break trying to work out who made the Tobelerone. It turns out, after a lot of hard thought about it, I cheated. 40/40 - beat my score :D

    Are you sure?

What if Spiderman was really really fat?

I can't believe Participant thought Spiderman could actually fly. That's funnier than the page itself. Not 'everyone on the planet' knows how Spiderman moves. So can you admit you were wrong now please :D

how much should I charge ?

Work out an hourly rate that you're happy with and then multiply that by the time it took you to develop the site - simple. Hourly rate is all dependent on how good you actually are. It's for you to decide what you think your time's worth. Having said that, it's odd that you've built the site...

Insurance premiums for young female drivers soar...

I think it's likely this will lead to a lot of women moving to insurers that use those black-boxes that monitor speed, braking etc. That way, their premium shouldn't be that different.

Another High Street retailer bites the dust (Comet)

People in other forums have gone in and are saying there's no sale actually going on - it's just press conjecture.

    Christmas for her

It's my second Christmas with my wife. I overspent on her the first Christmas so, to even it out, I'm not getting her anything this Christmas. She may read the forums

OCUK, if you could monitor the world's mood on ANY topic, what would you look at and why?

No, sorry for the confusion - the stock market use was just an example. You can do this for any word or phrase already. It's built in to almost every social media monitoring tool. Raven Tools, for example, has one built in. I've used it a bunch of times to report on brand mentions in crisis...

OCUK, if you could monitor the world's mood on ANY topic, what would you look at and why?

You can already monitor the 'worlds mood in real-time', it's called sentiment analysis (and almost all big brands have monitors already set up). Any social monitoring tool will be able to search and find all references (facebook, twitter, blogs, news etc) related to a keyword that you provide it...
