Need to get new mobo, ram & cpu waht would u reccommend?

If you're only using one 6600GT card, then it doesn't have to be compatible with crossfire. it's only if you were using two that you'd need it to be an sli motherboard, which the p5k isn't. I'd recommend the p5k - I have the p5k premium, and it's been great. Got my q6600 up to 3.6 no problems :)

    Please recommend a keyboard.

Saitek eclipse 2 is a great keyboard for the price. I got one for my sons' pc, and they both love it.

Which PSU to get?! Cheap and Cheerful :)

Have a look at the ocuk huntkey psu's. They're supposed to be cheaper than the big brands but using quality components. If you could stretch to £70, you could get the Corsair HX520, which would be spot on for you.

    New system

You wouldn't need an SLI motherboard if you got a 9800GX2, so you could get an x48 instead :)

    New PC Build

I'd save a few hundred quid and get the q6600 combo...

    Q6600 Setup - Anticipate problems?

Have you already bought the graphics cards, because if not, don't get the 256mb versions - get the 512's. Even better, just get a p35/x38 motherboard and get a 9800gx2. The nvidia motherboards aren't as good at overclocking the quads as the intel motherboards, which is why I switched from a 680i...

    New system

Why not just go for an intel p35, x38 or x48 motherboard and get a 9800gx2.

    Q6600 overclock trouble...

If this works, you could try upping the fsb slowly until it fails, then bump vcore a bit more. Hopefully you'll get it to at least 3.2ghz

    Spec check £650

For motherboard/cpu, I'd consider q6600, and asus p5k premium. I think you can get a GTS 512 for the price of that GT, maybe even a GTX for just a little more. For PSU, have a look at the Corsiar HX 520. For HDD have a look at the WD 640gb for a little more. It's one of the fastest drives out at...

    New PC Build

Crossfire is not SLI - it can't run SLI unless it's an nvidia chipset like 6x0i or 7x0i. I wouldn't pay the inflated prices for ddr3, and would also get 4gb of ddr 2, as suggested by semi-pro. For a cheap(ish) but powerful motherboard, the p5k premium is spot on. Agree with the q6600 - brilliant...

Most worthwhile upgrade from an 8800GTS 320Mb?

GTX is best if you're at high resolutions - due to the extra bandwidth. If you're at 1680x1050 or below, then you don't really need the GTX as much.

    help with hard drive formatting

I've just had a similar problem with a new Samsung 750GB F1. It would format, but would then disappear. I ended up returning it and getting a 75GB Seagate 7200.11. I'd try formatting it in another pc if you can.

    What PSU

I'm sure the Corsair HX 620 would handle that lot with power to spare.

    My final pc specs

PC 6400 would do the job fine, but for the extra cost you may as well get a little bit extra speed :)

    My final pc specs

Why 2xGTX's ??? would you not be better with a 9800gx2, with the potential to add another one later, or even 2x8800GTS 512. You'd use a lot less power with the GTS. I think I'd stick with the faster memory - I'm using OCZ Reaper PC 8000 and running a q6600 at 3.6ghz. I've just bought the Zalman...

Your professional opinion on this build? :P

If your graphics/3d modelling software works in Vista, then it's a no brainer. Performance is getting pretty close in gaming, and the fact that you're using 4gb makes everything a lot smoother :)

    Q6600 overclock trouble...

Now you know your fsb is ok at 400, try pushing the cpu again. Try 9x333 for 3ghz. Your VID isn't the best, so you may not achieve sky high clocks. Make sure your ram is underclocked for now until you get the cpu sorted. Stick vcore to 1.35 at 9x333 and stick your vdimm to 2.1v. You should be...

    Q6600 overclock trouble...

Have you tried 6x400 yet? You need to isolate the cause of the p95 failure.

    Q6600 overclock trouble...

Maybe you should identify if it's the cpu or fsb. knock it down to 6x and see if it still fails. If it does, then it's fsb. Also keep ram underclocked to take it out of the equation. If it doesn't fail at x6 then it's the cpu. Try it at 3ghz first - 9x333 and see what happens. Do you know what...
