    Political Correctness Gone Mad Again

I’ll keep my moaning in one thread if you will. :p

    Political Correctness Gone Mad Again

Can’t we keep all this moaning about the modern world in one thread? Every other thread in GD reads like the comments section of the Daily Mail at the moment.

Crime Up, Knife Crime Up, Gun Crime Up

New Labour’s old soundbite was “Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime”. That’s on the money, if you ask me. If you throw disadvantaged people under a bus, like the Tories do, there will be a rise in crime. It’s not surprising that homelessness is also rocketing.

Crime Up, Knife Crime Up, Gun Crime Up

People voted for austerity and austerity policing. Can’t whinge at politicians when you get what you asked for.

    So, Corbyn Loves China. Interesting...

Absolute poverty. Those deprived of basic human needs such as clean water.

James Bond films are 'sexist' and 'racist

Because the Mail Online makes more money when their stories are shared on social media and PC overclocking forums.

    Lily Allen: "History is racist"

I don’t think the average GD poster has the right to call someone else “whiny”. :p

    China bans hip hop culture

Are the Wu-Tang Clan/the actor Bill Murray allowed to plan one caper to get hip-hop back onto Chinese TV?

    China bans hip hop culture

Goldie Lookin’ Chain are going to have a field day when they find out that they’ve been banned from Chinese TV.

    Lily Allen: "History is racist"

The Battle for Rorke’s Drift took place ~140 years ago. London is closer to where Boko Harem operates than Rorke’s Drift is.

    China bans hip hop culture

Or modern-day rappers like Run The Jewels. I know the lad’s name is Killer Mike but the worst he’s ever said is that he’s glad that Reagan is dead. I’m guessing the Chinese authorities don’t like hip hop because it’s subversive.

    Lily Allen: "History is racist"

What about the cherry-picking of history? We choose to remember Rorke’s Drift because the British won an improbable victory. The rest of the Anglo-Zulu war is glossed over.

    So, Corbyn Loves China. Interesting...

I’ve seen some comparisons between Communist China and capitalist India. Over the last 40 years, China has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of extreme poverty while India’s numbers have barely changed. The CCP is so clearly a terrible regime (especially if you’re not Han) but they’ve...

    So, Corbyn Loves China. Interesting...

What did Corbyn say exactly? Did he call them a great bunch of lads?

#MeToo - is it just different for men and women?

I used to work for one of the companies reported as having a table at The Presidents Club event. The phrase “saddened but not surprised” comes to mind. The company’s rules on sexual harassment were as strong as any I’ve seen but the company attracted the kind of people who thought that the rules...

    Recommend a Baby Monitor please

We’ve had really bad luck with monitors. First we had a BT one where the screen died after a year. Then we got a VTech VM343 and it stopped charging after six months. VTech’s customer support is dreadful too.

    An argument over dinner

They’re absolutely not the best of what’s available. Many dedicated and capable ministers have been sidelined by this government.
