I had exactly the same issue on an Acer XB270hu, only it was the top 1 inch of screen. I figured it was the nvidia g-sync module and it appears yours is also native g-sync. Donated to a friend but it's still going strong after a year like that.

Surely an always on fan would push the monitor beyond the EU* requirement of 0.5w max in standby mode (it's a 1.1w fan at full speed). *May not apply to UK anymore, but the same monitor is sold in the EU.

To be fair, uniformity is a general OLED issue. I had to go through 4 LG CX to get one that was acceptable.

You could just use the windows screen saver (black screen or mystify) at a 5-10 minute delay, then set monitor off to 1-2 hours.

Whack that contrast down to 85 if stuck at 100 too. Ignore anyone that suggests it should be higher for SDR content.

I'm currently using an iphone SE OG (LCD) and Huawei Redmi 10s OLED with DC dimming option, so no PWM. I tried the Iphone SE2 but returned it after 5 minutes of use due to PWM. That's my level of discomfort.

Regarding OLED brightness dip when used as a monitor - it's a non-issue as it never dips very far from full brightness. It's the on/off/on that messes you up. I have hypersensitivity to PWM even at high Hz and had no side effects when using the LG CX for extended periods at less than 1-meter...

Pity there is no blur reduction in this model - I guess implementing it via Nvidia's ULMB wasn't possible. I'll be waiting for the freesync version to hopefully have it built into the monitor.

Looks to be a perfectly useable glossy AR coating. I really didn't like staring at my ugly face when using the LG 55" mirror as a monitor.

As a monitor it won't have motion interpolation, so the only way to overcome this annoying stutter that makes moving content less trackable than an LCD is with BFI/ULMB. Just hoping this is a good implementation with low input lag and no cross-talk.

If I had the eyesight of someone not subjected to 20 years of CRT monitors it wouldn't be required :) Windowed mode options exist but gsync is still a stuttering mess outside of fullscreen.

Checked the manual - another Alienware gaming monitor with no on-screen crosshair. A minor annoyance, but some games are not kind to old gamer eyesight with single-pixel crosshairs. It has RGB lights tho, so yay it's a "gaming monitor" :)

If burn-in is guaranteed it might be worth abusing the monitor so you can claim a replacement before the 3-year warranty expires. Typical usage may not see visible burn-in until the 4th/5th year.

I found the same by experimenting with both the 55" and 48" OLEDs at the "correct" distance with appropriate scaling. Putting a larger display further away just feels wrong and disconnected when gaming.

Not sure what games you guys are playing to think current OLED TVs are "good" with motion clarity. Without black frame insertion enabled they are blurrier than an old first-gen 120hz IPS due to the nature of sample/hold. With it enabled however the tables turn and the OLED CX provides better...

When it happens do you notice a boldening effect applied to the text on the screen for a second or so? I've been getting this randomly in Windows 11 and have no idea why. Five different monitors with an nvidia graphics card.

For all day close viewing productivity you ideally want the lowest brightness, lowest contrast, lowest reflection screen possible. OLED is great for media but incredibly fatiguing up close with static content ime.
