I highly recommend Leyland trade white for the ceilings and Laura Ashley for the walls. The trick i've found to getting a great finish for the ceiling is to water the paint down slightly. I'll add maybe 1-2 pints of water to a 10L tub. It'll take 2 coats minimum, 4 coats on freshly plastered.
