Grammar Schools back on the table.

Is that one way or two way? You kick the lowest performers out of the grammar school? One size doesn't fit all, but the very rational fear is that if grammars come back, so in effect do secondary moderns. The issue with education in the UK runs deeper and won't be resolved by this, but a lot of...

NHS not funding HIV preventing drug (now ordered to fund drug by court decision)

Without getting moralistic about it it seems pretty simple, is the projected cost for treating future infections in the target group higher than the cost of prep and associated expected reduced cost of treating future infections in that group? If yes then why wouldn't you? It's not as though...

does the past still exist ?

Solipsism, it's the only rational position.

    The next Labour leader thread

What is the point of power if you abandon your principles to get it? If you have to compromise so much that you can't implement anything you went into politics to try and achieve, what was the point? Power for its own sake?

    The next Conservative Leader thread.

I don't believe that for a second (that she couldn't win it). Her populist rhetoric was going down a storm with the membership. Maybe the rumours of a split if she won were serious, or maybe she just decided the whole situation would be too much of a mess.

    The next Labour leader thread

With Leadsom pulling out of the Conservative leadership race and May being the defacto winner Labour really can't afford another leadership election of their own right now. The coup has failed, they'll have to find a way to make it work.

    Fuji X Series

I've got the 16-55 as well and I don't think I've once thought "if only I had OIS", maybe that's just down to when/where I tend to use it but it's a great lens.

    Fuji X Series

I'm liking the look of the new 80mmF2.8 Macro with OIS, probably the next on my list. I like the look of the XT2 but the price is going to be way too much for me to justify over my XT1 atm, maybe in a year or two.

How would you vote if there was a General Election this year?

Due to the broken way our voting system works, lib dem as they're the closest to beating the conservatives in my area, although it's not too bad as they're a second choice after green.

I don't want to live under laws voted on by people from Nottingham. I don't think that's fair.

Brexit thread - what happens next

Not a chance, until article 50 is invoked all that's happened is a non binding referendum has been had. I'm not going move on until there is absolutely no other choice.

The Official OcUK EU Referendum Exit poll (and results discussion thread)

There'll be a general election though right? I remember how much the media and Tories went on and on about how Gordon Brown had no mandate add he wasn't elected leader by the people etc. Complete garbage, but if it applies to him it applies to them too?

The Official OcUK EU Referendum Exit poll (and results discussion thread)

Absolutely, whichever way it goes we should go all in, I'd rather we left than hang around on the sidelines sniping.

The Official OcUK EU Referendum Exit poll (and results discussion thread)

:) It's strange that some people have invested so much in one side or the other. I voted remain but if the result is leave, well, I did what I thought was best and will just have to make leaving work.

    The EU Referendum: Polling Day

It's become weirdly tribal. I can absolutely see where some of the leave arguments come from, I just don't personally rank them as highly as they do.

    The EU Referendum: Polling Day

Yeah, I'm afraid it's the other way around, the pound diving means that imports are more expensive and your pay goes less far :(

    The EU Referendum: Polling Day

Harder to predict with multiple choices in the vote and trying to work out how a countrywide sample of those choices will turn into constituency results. This is a straight two horse race. If you think they're wrong though, go make some money.

    The EU Referendum: Polling Day

I moved 3 miles down the road in the same electoral area, different polling station. So no, it's very unlikely that all 277 people all lived in the same polling station area and somehow hadn't managed to vote before getting on this bus, which happened to stop off at their polling station.
