im surprised the Sony RX100 range hasnt been metioned. They are very pocket friendly, have excellent picture quality and features. There is currently seven versions of it, ranging from a probably discontinued original for cheap 2nd hand - up to 1200 for the latest mark 7.

It was the software that made me move to DJI tbh. It's still not perfect on android as they favour Apple quite shamelessly but it is certainly better.

Just to update - I've ordered a zhiyhun smooth q to use with my phone (S7) and to gauge how much I use it for now while I wait for either new releases or price drops on the bigger versions. If it fits I'll also try the RX100 (Inc hand grip) and see if it can handle the weight and still work well.

for that sort of budget i would add the sony hx50 to the mix. I've got one, it is very capable and the 30x optical zoom is a beast. For a little more you can have the hx60 which is nicer still.
