What film did you watch last night?

Saint Judy (2018) Based on a true story that probably deserved a better film made around the subject matter than this turned out to be. It felt very by the numbers and formulaic in almost every aspect, the acting wasn't great and Common was seriously miscast and totally unconvincing as the...

What film did you watch last night?

Gunfight at the O.K. Coral (1957) Old westerns don't really stand the test of time, but Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster really elevate this one to be quite a decent watch. 6.5/10

What film did you watch last night?

McCabe and Mrs Miller (1971) Although I have no previous knowledge of the film, I was expecting a western, based on the brief synopsis. Turned out to be anything but a western, but still reasonably interesting considering it's age, and also considering not a lot really happens. 6/10 Blue...

What film did you watch last night?

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023) Having watched the four original films, which my wife loves and I don't, in the interests of give and take we watched this steaming pile of dross last night. Easily the worst of the five films, you get to where you think it should be...

    Dune: Part 2 (2023)

Apparently there were plans to make Dune: Prophecy in to a TV show. Wether that's still the case or that's what the third film is based now, I don't know.

    The Fall Guy

Saw the trailer at the cinema, when we went to watch Dune part 2, and it had me stitches. Looks like a lot of fun and I think Ryan Gosling has a real knack for comedy and should do more of it. I'll definitely be going to see it.

What film did you watch last night?

Black Rain (1989) Haven't seen it in along time, probably back on VHS. Great looking film, a very 80's sounding score, good acting and direction. My only real criticism is, despite the Japanese setting, it's still a story we've all seen before, even for a film made in 1989. 7/10

    Dune: Part 2 (2023)

Watched it yesterday and I think it's a cinematic masterpiece, film making at its peek and definitely a film to be seen on as big a screen as possible.

What film did you watch last night?

Dune Part 2 (2024) Watched part one for second time last week in preparation. I have to say that as much as I enjoyed the first film, the second is far better. I have to agree with Mr Jack, it's definitely a film to see at the cinema. The sheer scale of the thing would be lost on a TV, or at...

What film did you watch last night?

Poor Things (2023) I think this is one of the most unique and original films I've ever seen. It's an X rated, black comedy mash up of Frankenstein, Alice in Wonderland, The Island of Dr Moreau mixed up with a dollop of Wes Anderson scooped on top. Very well written and directed, great...

What film did you watch last night?

Dune (2021) In preparation for part 2 this Friday we re watched the first film last night. I think I enjoyed it more the second time around. Because I had a good understanding of the story I could enjoy the spectacle of it more. It feels epic in the same way Lawrence of Arabia is. Nearly...

What TV shows are you currently watching

Just finished Culprits on Disney. Well worth a watch and only 8 episodes. Now watching Shogun and Prison Break on Disney and the current series of Drive to Survive on Netflix.

    Shogun

Watched the first episode last night and really enjoyed it. I think the English actor is channelling his inner Tom Hardy.

What film did you watch last night?

The Grapes of Wrath (1940) Considering the age of the film it doesn't really suffer for it, when watched with modern eyes. The acting, for the most part, it's very natural. The story is interesting from a historical perspective and generally keeps you engaged through out. Easily one of better...

What film did you watch last night?

True Believer (1989) James Woods (with a questionable hair style) and a young Robert Downey Jnr star in this legal drama. For its age it's good film, I think Woods over eggs the pudding slightly on occasions. Still a very enjoyable film of you like courtroom or legal dramas. Apparently, it's...

What film did you watch last night?

Barton Fink (1991) It's a well made and well acted film, but I just didn't get it, for the most part. 8/10 if you're clever and well read. 5/10 for me.

What film did you watch last night?

The Convent (2000) WTF did I just watch? Easily one of the worst films I have ever seen. You sort of knew in the first five minutes it was going to be bad, but it just got worse and worse. Even if it was trying to parody of 80's slasher movies, it was still awful. There absolutely nothing I...
