DLA to PIP transition confusion. (Thread necro'd from 2013)

One part of the PIP assessment which has been added again (as it was there in DLA) is the "An essential element of the PIP assessment is that it should take account of whether claimants can undertake each activity ‘safely, reliably, repeatedly and in a timely manner". This means that you...

DLA to PIP transition confusion. (Thread necro'd from 2013)

Paper and reality are very different. I've seen articles where people have died before even getting to their forced assessments and terminal patients being found fit for work then dying soon afterwards etc. Reality is that people do need to have an assessment but that you are judged the minute...

DLA to PIP transition confusion. (Thread necro'd from 2013)

I did say afaik, also it's likely that the initial assessments will be similar to esa in that you do have to go regardless of what's wrong with you and what data you send.

DLA to PIP transition confusion. (Thread necro'd from 2013)

Some good information here http://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/f60.htm. There will only be two rates for pip unlike DLA where there were three for the care component. This in itself will mean that some people will no longer be able to claim dla in it's new form.

What, the actual, ****??? Taxi driver killed by Police after being brutalised in the street

I read this on the news yesterday and was shocked. I don't think it matters if it's common (I read the statistics on those injured in police custody and killed since 2010 and it was high I thought) but it's the desensitisation of the general public that follows. Once people are no longer...

    Depression/Stress

I think that's incredibly brave of you to talk about your experiences and I'm so glad that you didn't succeed in taking your own life. I know a lot of people in my family and of my friends that have suffered with depression and it's very hard to admit it and to get the right help. I hope you...

    Are pancakes bad for you?

I saw a fabulous baker brothers episode on tv a while back where they made butter from just whipping cream and the leftover liquid (after the butter was taken out) was buttermilk. Looked really quick and easy. I'd rather not eat eggs than buy caged or "free range" ones; you have to be so...

    What book are you reading...

I have a few on the go at the moment but have just finished reading Story of O for the first time and found it a very interesting read and far better than the 50 shades of rubbish books. I like to read a variety of genres and am enjoying getting back into reading more now. Always looking for...

What film did you watch last night?

So glad I saw your comments at the end! I was agasp! :p I watched John Q last night and I loved it. Was an amazing performance from Denzel Washington and I really felt a huge amount of empathy for him and his situation. I'd definitely recommend it.

I love the view from mountains but my fear of heights restricts me quite a lot. Hoping to overcome this and actually get on a plane again at some point too!
