What proportion of your household income was your first mortgage?

21% of Gross, 31% of Net currently. First home was pretty similar at the time before I got a pay rise. Going over all our finances this seems pretty reasonable. If I was renting it would likley be nearer 40% net for a lot less property - GP

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

You have no idea how tempted I am. Unfortunately the little I have managed to glean indicates its capacity, I assume its simply them being tight and waiting as long as possible to increase the capacity at the POP. Honestly, the worst bit if their poor customer service more than anything. I'm...

So, problem started in November here. Current ETR: February 26th (Was November, then December, then January, Then February). Fantastic having to put up with this for 18h/day: Ive wasted about 8 hours over he last 3 weeks on hold getting through to them, then had theiur staff lie directly to...

    Tabletop Warhammer?

Anybody else using Vallejo Game Color? The adherence of the Orange I have isn't great (Yellow and oranges are ofcourse notoriously bad). I have 3 thinned coats over a wash and its patchy and streaky still, and even with thin coats some of the detail is beginnign to be obscured. I'm going to try...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

Finally had the Lease/Service details updated by the purchasers solicitors - took them 6 weeks and werent even going to do it until i pointed it out after they both tried to invoice me. The lease stipulated that it must be done within 4 weeks of purchasing the property off me - good for them to...

    NHS-NoReply - How To Block??

This is where I wasn't sure. My Gp messages DO still have an opt-out message with them, hence being not sure. - GP

    NHS-NoReply - How To Block??

While I'm not familiar with the GDPR as much as some people and always open to be taught something, my initial point here is that I would say that's not right. Many sources such as : https://fastsms.co.uk/blog/sms-marketing-gdpr Indicate on point 3: "For SMS Marketing, this means including an...

Kent—the best town/area to live for London commuting

Depends on what you want really. Certainly rail links aren't bad - Eridge goes through East Croydon to London so you cna certainly get places - GP

Kent—the best town/area to live for London commuting

True. My gran lives near Bowles Outdoor Center in Eridge, just outside TW. It's perfect for her between TW and Crowborough, but its not exactly got a thriving vibe to it if you're under 70 - GP

    American Style Fridge Freezer

I do definitely want one, although it;s on the back burner now as the vendor for my new house is leaving all the white goods, so don't need one jsut yet. I also have a chest freezer going in the garage so mass storage, so that isn't an issue. Ill probably get one when the inside fridge or...

Kent—the best town/area to live for London commuting

Amazing how many people live near me - I sold my flat near Kent House station (Beckenham) about 4 weeks ago, currently in West Wickham until my new place goes through in Biggin Hill! Sidcup/Bexley is nice and near transport, Petts Wood is OK but depends on the side of it. £200k isn't a lot of...

Im not sure Id want to have that and the work haning over my head. Lets say somehting else goes wrong (Car, roof, windows or whatever), do you have savings to deal with it? If it pushes it back then it could be a long time or never. Pretty negative view but I wouldn;t want it hanging over me if...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

Personally it feels like a bit of a risk, but that's my nature, others would see it as not a big deal. If you pulled out, whats your position on finding somewhere else? Will you suffer further costs if you dont find somewhere within a year (i.e. storage costs, increased rent or other...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

If the extension comes down, is there a risk that you wouldn't get planning permission to do it properly? How important is it to your requirements on the house? It's one thing buying a place that needs a bit of work doing on your list, IMO those are items for houses that just need maintanance...
