I would train your dog to wait at the door before being allowed back into the house and then wipe his/her paws before they come in. It will minimise dirt on the carpet and make life a lot easier (speaking as someone who used to live in a house with cream carpets and two dogs - thankfully we now...

Yes it does sit back from the opening - that’s where the opening is to connect to the flue. Ours sits back about 30cm from the front. The depth of the i5 is about 43 cm.

We had a fixed price and he stuck to that. We did add an extra which we paid for - the original plan was 5 courses of bricks, and as they started to build we decided we wanted an extra 5 courses. That added an extra £1k to the bill. We also asked for the granite to be used to top the brickwork...
