<sigh> I need one of them... I'm currently trying to run 2 instances of EVE, transcoding a DVD to an AVI, and transcoding an AVI to a DVD as well! An AMD 3800x2 just isn't up to the task.
Yup, thanks, that worked!
I know I can look at "hidden" files by doing a "ls -a" .. just didn't realise it was that LOCK file that was causing the problem.

Where did my 375,000 tiffy go?? Either I got it this fortnight, or last.. but I looking at the weekly news for 2 weeks ago, and I didn't get it then either! <boohoo> :(
Kinnison.
Now I'm getting "Another Instance of Fahmon is already running" when I try to run it.... but there isn't :(
It probably got shutdown improperly last time, and some file is saying it's still open.... god knows what file it is though. <sigh> Linux, I love it.
Kinnison.
Yeah, that's what I will do for the moment I think (although I multiply by 2 and then throw away the 2 least significant digits :) )
I'll just wait for Stanford to change their psummary files.

Hmmmmm... don't think the ppd/benchmark is working right on my machine :-
Project : 2604
Core : Gromacs SMP
Frames : 2
Credit : 1760
-- SMP --
Min. Time / Frame : 27mn 56s - 45365.16 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 27mn 56s - 45365.16 ppd
The time/frame is correct, but how it...
Sounds fantastic - now I'm going to have to try to remember how I got this thing to compile and run under Linux again ... !
Kinnison.
EDIT: I take it back.. compiled easily, and now shows my SMP gromacs project .. AND minimizes to the system tray, I love it :)
Hmmm... if ia32-libs is installed, it's strange that it's not seeing fah5 as a file
Are you sure the execute flag is on fah5? If you do "ls -l fah5" it should show something like :
-rwx------ 1 chris chris 249556 2007-01-31 03:29 fah5
The "x" needs to be there.
This happened to me the first time I installed ubuntu on VMware.. I believe it's because you don't have the 32bit library installed (fah5 is a 32bit program and the 64bit ubuntu doesn't recognise it).
You have to install the library by using the command "sudo apt-get install ia32-libs"
Hope...
I used VMware for the first unit, then I tried going native. I was getting 34mins per frame (1%) on vmware, getting 28mins now on native.. that's about 20% faster!

Sirius, I used your instructions to install the latest drivers for my Nvidia 6600GT.. they seemed to work just fine..
When it comes to xine and mplayer... xine isn't even installed from what I can tell, and mplayer is a pile of p** !! So neither of those commands worked.
I installed VLC...
I used your guide to install FahMon... had a few troubles at first :-
The command "bunzip2 < fahmon-2.1.5.src.tar.bz2 | tar xf-" didn't work for me, I had to run "bunzip2 fahmon-2.1.5.src.tar.bz2" and then "tar -xvf fahmon-2.1.5.src.tar" but no biggy..
Then "scons" wasn't installed... I...
Talking of sigs... I just noticed mine isn't working anymore. I don't post here often, so maybe the url changed a while ago?
mine is pointing to http://www.paulgraydon.co.uk/fah/fahsig.php?id=kinnison&r=255&g=255&b=0
is that wrong?
Kinnison.
I just installed Ubuntu natively (on a dual-boot) a few days ago, and I've got a Nvidia 6600GT, so I could maybe help as well, if you like.
Cheers,
Kinnison.
So far it's done 1% in 36 mins, which puts it around the 200ppd mark I think, which is not bad for my machine.. not up with the 364pointers, but much better than the nasty 392 and 396 pointers I've had recently.
