    Wren kitchens?

Yeah see I agree, me and wife have been debating worktops, and come to same point where we are thinking, use a specialist . I think you are right .

    New build: Grass

This, I lived in a new build once, its now being rented out, as I moved out into a ex 1950s council house. The turf just never seemed to look healthy, and when I dug down, I had at most 100mm of soil, the rest was a mix of sand and whatever rubbish the builders could cram into the "tiny" back...

    Wren kitchens?

I work for the Travis Perkins group, and my wife worked for both Wickes and Howdens, so we do have some good debates in our household at the moment as to which kitchen supplier we are going to go with. Currently we have it down to Howdens and Benchmarx - wickes are supplied by Benchmarx now, so...

    Permitted development for extension ?

Thank you for the ideas, I like the idea of more glazing to let more light in.

    Permitted development for extension ?

Brilliant - that does make it way more clearer - so long as not exceeded by 3m deep does that mean I can build an extension of 3m x 5m 5m being the length across our rear wall? As yes I am building next to a fence so 2 m of next door is not possible so I now understand the eaves height limit...

    Permitted development for extension ?

I am getting myself rather confused and not sure where to start, but all we want to do is extend our existing property to include a bigger kitchen dining area. It is a single extension we are looking at, and I am not sure if I need planning permission, I have looked online at a few local...

    Sound proofing party walls

As said there is, but its quite expensive , even if you can hang plasterboard and reskim walls to a good standard its still fairly expensive. The problem is, as mentioned, the sound travels up through the walls and ceilings, and TBH that video he linked to showing metal battens and sound proof...

Is gaming right now what you thought it would be?

Isn't that the truth. And not only PC games , obviously not allowed to promote such things but * cough * older consoles games on a decent spec PC are also playable, but native PC games, some from the 90s are great fun and often have patches and fixes to increase res, graphics and fix missing...

    screws for plasterboard

5mm plasterboard? is that right, most plasterboard is either 9.5mm or 12.5mm 5mm - thats got hardly anything to sink into , toggles , gripit will work but thats a very thin board. If its standard wallboard it will most likely be 12.5 - and as its a toilet roll holder, you know full well that...

    Sound proofing party walls

Agree, had to endure awfully loud neighbours so I just installed surround sound in the living room and I whacked the volume up constantly and placed the speakers right next to the party wall, and now I am in the process of fully renovating the entire house, in order to sell up and move on. The...

    *** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Got similar results to you but g sync 1440 still felt fine - I just can't enable all the new fancy options like obviously ray tracing. And I am not fussed about this , this game was the one that might have forced my hand to update my CPU and GPU - guess not, I mean would be nice to play with all...

    *** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

so guess with a 980ti 1440p g sync monitor would I actually get anything stable, so much information out there, hard to actually know real world if a 980ti would cut it

Repairing hairline cracks in the ceiling.

Whilst reskimming the entire ceiling using scrim tape would remove all the cracks, and less likely to re-appear that is a bit drastic if hes using the room as reskimming with gypsum finishing plaster is not only a skill, its also bloody messy ... He would need to ideally remove as much furniture...

Move out for building work - or stay?

Currently renovating an old 1950s ex council house . Staying in the property saves on costs to move if you have to rent, but if you can go stay with relatives whilst the bigger jobs are completed then I would if you do not like dust and mess. Upon saying this. Anything you must leave in the...

removing french doors and leaving frame

those door stops are most likely just panelled pinned on, just score the paint with a sharp blade Stanley knife and priase them off being careful to not dig into the frame. The problem then is, you'll most likely reveal the frame mount screws - lets hope the previous builder countersunk them...

    Acceptable radiator installation

leaving the existing holes, I very much doubt they would sort them out, as for the mounting they did, awful - its pulled the plasterboard and the fixings used have lost strength as the board its fixed to is as said blown and weakened - I do not know if the wall is dot n dab or board and batten...

    Repairing artex..with plaster

No I did it once and only once, a blob of plaster right in my eye, after a few hours even though I washed my eye out with plenty of water I felt like I wanted to rip my eyeball out, went A & E and they cleaned it with a litre of water and gave me eye drops - took about 3 days to clear up...

    Repairing artex..with plaster

Artex - lovely stuff - not . Quite a few rooms in our house were covered in this stuff, need to be careful, as some contain asbestos and not great for your health. Thankfully none of our rooms were dangerous, but we have torn down most of it and re boarded and reskimmed. Couple of ceilings I've...
