Just installed my shiny new 4600 X2 and was wondering about the running temps. I have an akasa EVO120 cooler and at idle it runs around 35 and goes to 51 under load. However the fan spins up to maxium or very close. It idles at 1100rpm goes to 2000 under load to keep it at 52 ( I am using Q fan...
So the 4600+ then? I have a Akasa EVO 120 at the moment being controlled by the mobo and it runs very slow and quiet, will that cope with the 4600 or should I look at a new cooler as well. My system is very qiute at the moment.
That what I am leaning towards, and then maybe sticking another Gig of ram in at some point although I have not noticed any need for it yet.
Trying to decide between the 4600+ (£150) and 4800+ (£190). Is there a lot of difference between them in terms of day to day performance ?
so about £390 for the complete upgrade, as so nearly twice the amount for just upgrading mine to a 4800+. I have noticed that the intel boards have only one EIDE slot, that could be a probllem I have 2 200Gb EIDE drives and a DVD drive and a DVD burner and one 250Gb Sata drive.
Yeah I was thinking that, although I can get a 4600+ for £150. With core duo I would need to by memory and mobo as well which makes it a bit more exspensive , What would be an equivalent for a core Duo system ? I have not been paying attention to cpu specs for a while.
I have had my current system for 18 months now, it is
Athlon 64 3500
1Gb Ram
ATI X800Xl graphics card
This moring I saw that the Athlon X2 are now down to a reasobable price. The question is, is it worth going to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ for £165 or possibly a 4800+ for £211...
Wondering if anyone here how has one of these ( Creative Zen Vision M) and can answer a couple of questions as I am looking at getting one to replace my zen Touch.
Can you leave bookmarks ? I listen to a lot of audio books, being able to do this would be very handy.
How long does the...
Also what are the ATI chipped MOBO's like. I ask for two reasons. First they are passively cooled,or at least the Abit AT8 is. Secondly I have a ATI 800XL card at the moment and if I under crossfire properly I could put in a second 800 series card in to boost my graphics performance.
Silence is golden and I am more interested in a board which achieves that than a massive over clock.
Can anyone who has a Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4, Tell me what fans Q-Fan actually has control over ? Is it just the CPU fan or can it control the chassis fan aswell. The blurb say it does...
I am after a new MOBO as my ASUS AN8-E is giving more and more gip.
What I am after is a socket 939 board with a passively cooled chipset. Like the ABIT and ASUS boards. I would also like it to be able to control the speed of the chassis fan as well.
I am not really interested in an SLI...
It is possible to get hold of a 12 4pin extension cable. If you look in my pics this is what I used. I got it before I even got the case.
I think Antec should include a truepower PSU with long cables with the case for a little more dosh especially since it such a different design to normal cases
I found that with 3 harddrives in the bottem bay the fan on the PSU was running slightly faster than it used to.
The thick fan in the bottem of the case is by far the noisest so I replaced it with an Akasa Amber fan turned all the way down with a fanmate (effectively 5v). I removed the...
There is one peice of advice to anyone building a system with this case that I would give. That is to get a PSU that you can remove any unused cables from like the Hiper PSU's. I think that Tagan are now making PSU's that are modular aswell. This should make for a much neater bottem chamber.
Open the door infront of the fan filter by pushing in the right handside to release the catch. Then push down the two clips at the top and pull out. Lift the filter up and out of the bottem mounts
For comparison here are my before and after temps
System is an
CPU a64-3500
Video HIS800xl Turbo
3xHard Disk
Mobo Asus A8N-E Qfan is controling cpu fan speed
Cooler is an Akasa EVO 120 rated 1000-2000rpm
Before in Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case. 2x akasa amber fans at 5v one...
