    Fan silencing a 32GQ950-B

In the case of 32GQ950-B it is definitely the fan. Changing the fan speed in the service menu changes the tone or eliminates it. It is a very high frequency noise, quite similar to coil whine.

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

In that case you certainly won't be bothering. It is Windows 11 only (I guess it relies on the improved scheduler). The driver install footprint is 23MB. The UI app is 10MB. That is not too bad compared to all the junk that a typical audio driver installs.

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

True, but if you happen to be playing one of the games (currently 14) it might be worth it. I’ve seen reports that the latest BIOS from ASUS now adds support for 12th gen. I’ve edited the first post to reflect this.

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

Yeah, I found the other announcement post now, buried in the 14th gen thread.

Intel Application Optimizer (APO) now working on 12th and 13th gen CPUs

Previous thread announcing this is now locked. :( This is now working on i7 and i9 from the 12th and 13th gen. But there are some hoops. You need a BIOS which includes the Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology option and enable it. You need the Intel DTT driver which supports 12th and 13th gen...

    RTX chatbot

The final install is almost 62GB when all the dependencies are added. It includes Mistral 7B and Llama2 13B LLMs. By default it uses a sample dataset of Nvidia documents, so you get some very biased responses until you either set it to not use this, or feed it your own dataset. It does respond...

The new software-based optimisation which is for "14th gen" only is really shady.

    Reverb G2 - Black Screens

Thanks for the useful post. I wonder why it suddenly start to fail after 8 months or so. Is there some TIM which is drying out? You definitely need to add a bright red LED though.

    14th Gen "Raptor Lake Refresh"

Might make sense once you have a high E-core count and no HT should improve security and power consumption.

    DPVR E4 Steam VR Headset

No IPD adjustment and poor inbuilt audio are a shame. Great to see decent inside-out tracking on a Steam headset though.

    LG 32GQ950-B vs 32GQ950P-B

Only difference I found in the specs is that the P version uses ~8W less. Perhaps P is for power saving?

    *** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Probably true for home users, but I would imagine many businesses will use SMB. The issue I experience is if I set two file transfers going simultaneously, to two different servers, both will transfer at the exact same rate, which will be that of the slowest (remote) connection. Previously they...

    *** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

The longstanding SMB file copy issue was finally meant to be fixed in February's KB5022913; "This update addresses an issue that affects copying from a network to a local drive. Copying is slower than expected for some users." But it is back as a known issue in March's KB5023706. :(

No it hasn’t, even after 3 years of heavy use. My partner is now using it for work.

Green corner rot on LG 32UD99 4K IPS monitor

Interesting. The fault does somehow look like the corners and edges of the panel are warping or separating. Perhaps a long stay in colder storage helps to resettle things. Makes me wonder if it might come back again though after being used for a period.
