    *** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

I'm running a 5 year old Haswell on a Asus z-97 mobo. It has TPM headers, but the old 20 pin style. Not surprisingly they can't be bought anywhere. I'm bidding on one and it's the only one I can find. But I'm not totally sure it is the compatible one. Blummin scalpers have already nabbed the...

Trying to find a: 2K, high refresh rate, gsync compatible, HDR 600+ monitor

I've been using an ancient 27" 2560x1440 60hz Mac monitor for so many years. It's basically on it's last legs. Something burnt out a while ago and most days I have turn the plug switch on and off 50+ times to generate enough charge to turn the screen back on. I want something to replace it...

    Xbox Scorpio

Thinking about this more. It's going to be a little difficult to compare Xbox One 4k performance with a PC. On a PC we can adjust graphical settings, most benchmarking sites run games on ultra. Hell, I could probably run a game in 4k on my GTX970 if I turned the graphic settings down to low for...

    Xbox Scorpio

GPU wise, the new Xbox is close to the GTX 1070 for TFLOPs and memory bandwidth. But Clock speed and ROPs is more GTX960.

970 3.5GB 'Ramgate' - NVIDIA ordered to pay $30 to each owner

According to Reddit thread, a certain retailer; which obviously I cannot mention, is providing refunds, and in some cases, 100% money back. Quote: "I caught wind of this from our friends over at (removed) and tried it out for myself tonight. I bought my 970 a couple months ago and was eligible...

Anyone used a PCI E - PCI adaptor card?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-616-AS This is what I've got. As you can see it only has two PCI-E slots. I suppose I could go with a dongle. I've got a basic 2.4Ghz dongle at the moment and it's ok speed wise. I just happen to have a thick brick wall between myself...

Anyone used a PCI E - PCI adaptor card?

Hi, I've been having no end of trouble with my PC lately. First the mobo starting failing and on the final power-on I did to back-up some files, it took out my 3TB file HD. My case also doesn't have very good airflow around the new HD, so it looks as if I need a new case as well. But...

Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Meant to post a pic of this a while ago Bought a second-hand Epson EH-TW3200 3LCD Projector (25000:1, 1800 ANSI Lumens, Full HD 1080p) Picture is 110". Projector can do 300" Projected straight onto a magnolia wall. Surprisingly good image. Only complaint is the blacks are not as black as I...

    Thief

You seem to be a lucky one. A lot of the official reviews complain about missing audio in cut-scenes. There are lots of threads of people all over the internet going crazy about this audio bug. Perhaps it's more complicated than not just having the game on a Windows drive, but it worked for me...

    Thief

Don't think it has to be the C: drive, just your Windows drive. Honestly, anyone who doesn't install Thief on their primary HD will have audio issues, cut-scene problems.

    Thief

Wait it does work!!!!!!!! OMG FINALLY. I moved Thief to the C: drive and then removed it and reinstalled it in Steam. All Steam does is verify that all the code is there, booted it up and: Lighting, guard talk, music. YES! Remember you have to remove the version on an external drive as well...

Lol just found this http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Thief_%282014%29#Audio_settings "Missing Voices, Subtitles, Music, and Some Sound Effects Fix Install game to an internal drive.[4] • Link If the game is on an external drive, voices, subtitles, music, and some sound effects like lightning may...

Sound issues Any of you guys been experiencing almost non-existent sound? All I can hear is footsteps, water running, bow sounds and the guard alert. No music, no atmospheric effects, no guard talk, a snatch of cut-scene sound maybe. I've messed around with the Audio settings in all...

Gigabyte 787m-D34 not detecting graphics card

I can't believe it, I finally worked it out. After getting a completely different motherboard and still having no success, I tried giving the card power from my old (now haswell compatible) power supply and what did you know, it worked. My new 850w XFX (haswell compatible) power supply is not...

Gigabyte 787m-D34 not detecting graphics card

Ok, finally found the time to do more investigations. I put the Xonar card in the 16x slot and there was no issue. The sound played fine. I tried the graphics card in the old PC, just to be sure I hadn't damaged it. Again, all was fine. This time I tried booting without the Xonar card...
