I suspect that most people have access to this area as it does contains some of the most famous rune farms in the game

    *** Elden Ring ***

Pre-ordered and Im about to knock off work and spin up a new build or two in prep for this For 35 quid, I'm expecting this to really be something, this and Elite Dangerous are the only games I have ever put over 1000 hrs into, 3rd would be Age of Empires 2 at I think from memory around 500-600...

    Insomnia Sufferers in here!

Sadly after never suffering from insomnia in my life, I had Covid in wave 1 which has destroyed my sleep. Initially we thought as I had pretty much been out of it for 16 days it was a reaction to that but it never went away and 3 yrs later if I can get 25hrs in a week, I have done very well...

Could AMD retreating to mid-range & Nvidia becoming out of affordability scope help optimization?

Could this not work in our favour? Nvidia exist in the high unaffordable end and AMD doing reasonably priced mid range cards, then optimisation of games would be a much hotter topic as less people would be able to throw pure horsepower and badly optimised games

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

Im going to be building a new machine when Zen 5 comes out and will probably just buy Nvidia however much they cost. The one advantage Nvidia do have that AMD doesn't even come close to is the CUDA platform/toolkit. For people that use it, unfortunately they are the only game in town :(

The early evening OcUK RTX4070TI Super review thread!

I wonder if any of these would be a worthy upgrade for my dual R290's from 2011 running in X-Fire  Im upgrading this year, but waiting for Zen 5

*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Thread (it can fold and everything) ***

Im considering getting my first foldable for when the fold 6 comes out. I have had Sony Xperia's for the last 4 years but I fancy a change and I can still use my Sony as a monitor for my camera and retire it for general use. I'm not too bothered about the fold as I'm sure you don't notice it...

    The 500 year old question

This +1 - best quote of the day for me! with reservations I would, I think it would be a very lonely life, and I despair at the world sometimes, but we are at the cusp of so many great discoveries I would love to hang around a bit longer to see how they turn out

Any good in having separate drives for OS and storage?

The mobo I'm looking at has active cooling for the gen 5 drive. I was under the impression that the latest drives didnt run quite as hot though still hotter than gen 4. I have a couple of months before I pull the trigger, speeds will have gone up by then if some of the previews I've read are true

Any good in having separate drives for OS and storage?

Agree Though as I'm going mini ITX then 2 x NVMe is my preferred option for my case of choice. If I can get my cable management perfect I might be able to squeeze an SSD in, but I'd prefer the increased airflow

Any good in having separate drives for OS and storage?

I have started to spec my next build (last one was in 2011). Storage wise Im looking at a 4TB PCIe 5 NVMe for for OS and Apps and a 4TB PCIe 4 NVMe for everything else. I was quite shocked at prices, things are really expensive now. To be fair, I haven't really been following prices, but I was...

    What's your CPU upgrade cycle?

<Hangs head in shame> AMD K6ii -> Athlon64 -> Bulldozer -> i7 3930K -> err nothing since! Ive been saving for most of the year, I have enough cash for a reasonable specced machine, but as I am so slow to refresh builds I have set myself a target of 3.5K which I should hit around March/April...

Any good in having separate drives for OS and storage?

That's helped me a bit. My understanding was that best practice is to have just the OS in its own partition and all apps installed to a separate partition. This is what we do with our work images. I was planning on 500GB for the OS and 3.5TB for apps/games/storage. I hadn't considered remapping...

    Valve announces the SteamDeck

It is absolutely fine - still amazed how playable it is. Im sure I have missed a few wow moments at some of the views by using a small screen but Im loving the game. I changed my settings to the ones listed on steamdeckhq (not sure if I can link) and it has been rock solid for the 300 odd hours...

    Valve announces the SteamDeck

Damn That is tonight taken care of then - I put so much of my time into The original ED, still have a ship out on the edge of the galaxy somewhere as my thing was exploring/scanning and dumping the data. I had a lifetime pass from the original kickstarter campaign, will start to look into this...
