    LED Bulb Thread

Ah, noted! Thanks. Oops, forgot the obvious - yep non-dimmable. - Non-dimmable GU10 - 3/4/5W (about 350-400 lumens) - Warm white (about 3000K) - Wider beam angle (> 60 degrees) I would consider the ones from TLC direct, but they seem quite expensive (10 for £45 inc VAT).

    LED Bulb Thread

Can someone help recommend some 4/5W warm white GU10s? I'm looking for wider beam angles (wider than the standard 36/38 degrees). The recommendations seems to be Screwfix, but most of their LAP bulbs are standard angles. I'm looking to do the entire house with about 80 bulbs :-)

    Any alternatives to Vidahost??

Webhost UK is listed at the top on that page, and although it's cheap as chips, their service is abysmal, after >15 tickets trying to resolve site hacks caused by other users on the same shared server, FTP passwords randomly changing, site downtime, automatic IP bans, it took me over a week just...

    Vidahost cPanel vs Cloud

Yeah it looks like resilience is the advantage with their cloud vs cPanel. I run a Wordpress site too, but I don't think I'd move to their cloud hosting if I lose performance. Over the last 12 months, my site uptime is about 99.2% with cPanel hosting.

    Vidahost cPanel vs Cloud

Hi guys, I have a cPanel hosting account with Vidahost, and after recommending this to a friend, she signed up over the phone but to their cloud hosting package. What are the differences? Are there any benefits e.g. performance gains if I move from cPanel to cloud (or vice-versa)? Thanks!

    Good cheap webhost?

    Good cheap webhost?

I paid two years up front, and hosted five sites. At first, they seemed ok, site runs, low latency, live chat support but in the past 9 months I've had loads of problems - SSL issue, IP changed without notice, site hacked, downtime (monitored by Pingdom), I've moved four of my sites away to...

    Good cheap webhost?

Webhost.UK is poor, lots of downtime, my site was bouncing up and down like a yo-yo for 12 hours. Even right now, its currently down for an hour. Been with them for two years, and would not recommend. Listen to the great members here, go for Vidahost instead!

    Replacing ADSL with Three tethering?

I'm also experimenting with this. My ADSL link is currently 3Mbps down and < 1Mbps up - its pretty poor. This week, I got myself a new Three sim on the One Plan, stuck it in a device which doesn't support HSPA+, and get a max download speed of 3Mbps, average of 1Mbps. The upload was terrible...

Just got one of these, they work pretty well, nice grip on the side, lost a lot of my disco ball effect from the back tho. Got an anti glare protector from them too, blurs the screen but no finger prints on the screen. :)

13th December has got to be one of the worst weeks of the year to stock phones for online purchases, parcel companies can barely cope. I do hope delivery dates aren't delayed till after xmas.

It might be better with scissors. I nearly screwed mines up using my micro sim cutter, still had to spend an hour filing it to fit!

What do you use for encryption?

I've used LUKS in the past with success, I'd only encrypt personal data e.g. home folder. Not OS, movies etc.

spec me a distro software please.

Linux Mint and Kubuntu are pretty close looking to Windows. I find that Ubuntu is more like MacOS these days. You might have to get used to a different free open source Office suite such as LibraOffice, but if you're using office programs, I'd consider Office365 or Google Docs. Upgrade your hard...

It feels great naked when you're sitting down at home, or doing a street-view of your lounge. But it does feels a little fragile when you're out and about trying to read a text.
