Quick update on this, I RMA'd the drive to Overclockers and they found it to be faulty. Just unlucky I got it as my first try with SSD. But happy I upgraded to the Vertex LE despite the double cost.

Ah interesting. So is there a fullproof way of knowing it is working? Also I hear the OCZ firmware has background GC, so in theory you could live without TRIM and still have non-degrading speed?

Afaics there is no new firmware for this drive, its just been released.

I don't know what size PCIe cards you're using but in that motherboard the top card was leaning on the 2nd one (using the 5850 toxic cards). Anyway I've bought the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P now and that has much better spacing (a whole extra PCI slot inbetween). Not sure where you got USB pen drive...

*bump* Also have tried this on the same system once Windows 7 was installed on the 3.5" HD. On both the SB750 and the Marvell controller, with Microsoft and vendor drivers the device hangs when trying to format. I'm starting to really think I have a faulty one.
