    HP Microserver Hibernate

Seconded, a great piece of software. My only problem with it is that I can seem to get it to wake up via the network. I've got a couple of VMs pointing to it for storage, but they cant seem to wake it from sleep leading to failed transfers and errors. Works fine when all machines are active...

were could i try eyefinity/surround before buying?

Best place to look would be hardware retailers with bricks and mortar stores. I know there is one retailer with an eyefinity set-up in its shop off Tottenham court road in London, but that's probably a bit of a trek for yourself!

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

How are they with newsgroups access? I know a lot of providers are throttling torrents but I've never had to consider newsgroups as it was part of the VM subscription. Are most other providers throttling Usenet traffic, or will it max out your connection (during off peak times) like it did on VM?

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Has anyone had any experience with VM's ADSL options? Unlike the majority of this thread I've had pretty good experiences with VM in the past, and have gotten used to some of their perks. I've recently moved to an area without VM cable and am trying to decide whether to try out their ADSL...

    *** Desk and Room Gallery***

That's very impressive! Did you buy it as a kit, build from instructions or completely from scratch? I'd love to make one myself, if I had the space.

Just Ordered - Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS

I've had my E2407HDS for just over a year now, no complaints here. Came from an old trusty 17" sharp 4x3 so was a big jump. I'd fully reccommend it, especially for the price. Only problems I've ever had with the monitor were later found to be the fault of a dying DVI cable. In fact, I like it...

    Can't get eyefinity working

The adapter should state on the side, under the DVI logo, whether it is active or passive. It's also worth checking what resolution you are outputting to your screens. Some active adapters are only single-link DVI, so top out at 1920x1200. If you're looking for a higher resolution than that...

    Fuzzy

I had a similar problem to this (fuzzy text in certain applications, most notably thunderbird) and found the problem to be the graphics drivers. It was under 3D Application settings in the ATI driver, either Morphological AA or one of the smoothvision settings, I cant quite remember. I noticed...

    SSD on a SATA2 system

I'm looking to add a small SSD boot drive to my HTPC system in order to get faster startup and the responsiveness I found I gained by adding a Vertex 3 to my desktop. The drive will be connected to a SATA2 port and used to hold windows and a handful of programs. The two drives I've been...

    Reliability of SSD's

Regarding the SSD and setting it to sleep, is there a way to have the SSD never sleep, but allow the other mechanical HDDs to sleep after a set time? Will they spindown even if they are are set to never sleep? Looking in "Power Options" in Windows 7 shows i'm using the "balanced" scheme but only...

    Reliability of SSD's

So when I would usually leave my machine to go into a sleep state, with an SSD I should switch the machine off or leave it on? Surely powering the machine off would also prevent TRIM running? As for leaving it on, I'm not too worried about the power draw of an SSD but motherboard+CPU+GPU+RAM at...

    Reliability of SSD's

I've not head that you should disable sleep on SSDs, is this right?

    Reliability of SSD's

This adds a worrying perspective to the issue, typically just as I was about to buy a vertex 3! http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2011/05/the-hot-crazy-solid-state-drive-scale.html Is this guy just REALLY unlucky, or are SSDs really only lasting about a year?

    Reliability of SSD's

I've heard people picking the Intel drives over the Vertex 3's due to reliability. With regards to SSD's, are these reliability concerns due to other drives being DOA, or failing after time?

    SSD for Sandybridge

Whe you say usage patterns, what should I be looking for? I'm intending to use the drive to hold my OS and installed programs, with games and other data on my larger mechanical disks. I'm not too clued up with HDDs as much as any other part of the system. When we are talking about reliability...

    Steam requesting PhysX

Is this officially supported now or do you still have to use 3rd party drivers? IIRC there are a few games on Steam that require PhysX installed (even if you have an ATi card). Mafia II and Metro 2033 are two that spring to mind.

    Freeview HD pci Card

Is there much on Freeview HD that would warrant an upgrade from a regular freeview card, or is it still only about 5 HD channels?

    SSD for Sandybridge

I suspect I'm in quite a common situation, in that I'm in the market for a SSD to go with my recent SandyBridge build. I'm looking for a 120-128Gb drive for around the £200 mark to install Win7 x64 and programs to. I'd like to spend around the £200 mark, but would stretch higher if it was...

Which Memory for a i7-2600K also Tri or Duel Channel?

The 2600k uses dual channel memory, not tri. In a dual channel set-up you'd be looking at either 4Gb or 8Gb of RAM. My personal preference is for 8Gb, but 4Gb should be enough for most applications and games. As for reccomendations, I've heard a lot of positive comments about the Corsair XMS3...
