Yep, tried all those BIOSs that are available on the Gigabyte website for the rev 1.0 of that board - F5, F9, F11 & F12. I did make a back up of my original BIOS (the original F2 I think!) but unfortunately only onto the disk that I then wiped trying to reinstall. Doh!
Can't see how it could...
I've tried loads!
I've tried both the original Home 64bit disk and the 32bit version (I bought it boxed retail), plus a copy of the 64bit I did in another PC. I bought these new with the build a few months back and so they came with SP1 integrated.
I also tried a 32bit Win7 Pro disk I got...
Hi,
My PC (see sig) has been running fine for a few months in Windows 7 Home 64bit installed on Force 3 SSD (and previously in Hackintosh mode with OS X Lion 10.7.2 on a WD Velociraptor 150gb using Kakewalk until I wiped that by accident a week or so back!)
The only issue was when I tried to...
Lots of money involved in upgrading the cooler to that sort of shenanigans, but seeing as I've spent almost £1k so far, WTF... might as well make the most of what I've got. Having said that, am pretty happy with the stock performance, and I have to add that the Vertex 2E SSD is probably the best...
Bloody hell. This looks like rocket science. And I thought trying to overclock the 'new' gen of Intel processors was tricky after messing about with Core 2 Duo for the past 5 years.
Just got home and thought I'd give it a quick spin again before hitting the hay to see what CoreTemp had to say about my overclock.
At stock, idling at 45-50°C and running Prime, 65-70°C. When OCed to 4GHz I'm idling at 55-60°C and hitting 100°C on Prime after just a few minutes.
Ooops. Good...
Hmmm... you're right. Probably not a good idea to leave it running on my first OC attempt whilst I go AWOL. Will leave the full test until tomorow when I can sit and look at virtual gauges to my hearts content.
Still, a good start - thanks for your help.
Well thank you... that was a surprisingly easy overclock. I've had it running Prime on 8 threads for 70 mins so far, no errors yet. I'm gonna leave it running, all fans on max and go off out for a meal and to the flicks now... hopefully my flat won't be burned down when I get back.
As...
Hi,
I was getting lots of crashes in games (CTDs, complete system halts and reboots!) and tried various things to find out the source, but then discovered that switching back to onboard HD audio solved the issues, meaning my ASUS Xonar DS or its drivers were at fault.
I tried using the very...
Hi,
I've got an ASUS P6X58D-E, Core i7 950 and 6gb 1600MHz Corsair XMS3, all bought from OCers December last year.
I've got an occasional problem where on boot my PC halts during BIOS boot and says that overclocking has failed and to press F1 to go to BIOS or F2 to continue with boot...
I was thinking of doing something similar, but into the side of my Antec Sonata III case. This shiny box (which I picked up for £65 in a sale a few years back, including the 500w Earthwatts PSU!) was fine for my previous build, but since I upgraded to an i7 950, GTX460 and replaced the (now...
Ironically, nPower put my leccy unit rate up by 60% this week, so your statement is incorrect ;)
Anyway, I thought the C1E helped reduce power consumption by throttling back the CPU when idle? Though I guess it might just be a case of using 80w instead of 125w or whatever. So I completely...
I got this motherboard about 6 weeks ago, but noticed it was making a lot of squealing noises. It got worse, but then I discovered that it wasn't actually making any squealing noises itself, but they were coming from my PSU (the Antec Earthwatts 500W I got with my Sonata III case), especially...
Though not technically a video 'card', my worst one was probably the RF modulator built into this:

Oh, I just realised... I already qualify as I've been here for more than a year and have over 100 posts. Darn it! Any chance of a retrospective reimbursement of my delivery fee for my HD4870? ;)
Also looks like I need to change my sig seeing as I've got the PC gaming bug again.... oops!
Ooooh. Free postage? I've only got another 15 posts to go until I qualify. All I gotta do now is think of what else I need to buy after taking delivery of my HD4870 last week (the first thing I bought off OCers in a year and a half!) and pay off my credit card. Hmmm.... perhaps it's time to...
I know.
I might as well just give up before I've even started, refund the £700 to my buyer (£100 of which I've already spent), and drive the 200 miles round trip to pick up my expensive box of broken bits. That way I may be worse off financially, but at least I'll still be sane.
I'm just...
Hi. I spent £750+ and built myself an awesome new PC in a P182 'Gun Metal' case. Then looked at my finances, realised I was being silly and, as I already had a quite nice PC, decided to sell it. I successfully flogged it at a well known auction site at a minor loss.
I then paid £26.99 for...
Stinka, I think this man can achieve anything if he's had the experience of changing RAM in a Mac Mini! As far as I can remember this procedure involves two putty knives, a bottle of Valium for your nerves, and a very large quantity of pot luck!
