X-FI Xtreme Gamer or Music, OEM or Retail?

Works fine with anything, I just had to enable the Digital IO in the Control Panel sound options (yeah I know it's got nothing to do with the IO, but that's what you gotta do).

X-FI Xtreme Gamer or Music, OEM or Retail?

Yes, I use my XtremeMusic over Coaxial digital to my Z-5500's. You need a mono 3.5mm adaptor to connect a Coaxial cable to the Flexijack socket, but they're not too expensive.

X-FI Xtreme Gamer or Music, OEM or Retail?

The Gamer is also optical, compared to the Music being Coaxial. This may be a decision-maker for some. They're usually regarded as basically identical, I didn't know the Music had better quality components. It's harder to get the Music now because the Gamer essentially replaced it in...

XFI extreme music or extreme audio?

The XtremeAudio is just a rebadged AudigySE. Most definately go with the XtremeMusic.

    Xfi Xtreme Music of Gamer?

MeatLoaf is correct, although it should also be noted that the XtremeMusic has Coaxial digital out, whereas the XtremeGamer has Optical digital out (though both require an adaptor). So if you're going to use digital, be sure to get the correct one.

    Vista/XP Dual Boot question

I just thought this was the case - if this is not, cool.

    Vista/XP Dual Boot question

I have installed Vista, but am considering re-installing XP and dual booting. Is it true my XP OEM key is basically invalid now I'm installed OEM Vista?

Auzentech Sound Card based on X-Fi

Depends how you read it - most people seem to be reading it as DDL support coming to Vista in Q4, with XP support being a given, but we'll see.

Auzentech Sound Card based on X-Fi

It is compatible with the forthcoming X-Tension DIN addon, that will feature HDMI 1.3a.

Auzentech Sound Card based on X-Fi

Stunning price when you compare it to the X-Meridian and X-Fi Elite Pro, when this card is potentially better than both combined.

Logitech 5500 & XFI Extreme Gamer

I have been using an X-Fi XtremeMusic (basically the same as the XtremeGamer) and Z-5500's for 18 months now and have been very pleased. You will want to be connecting the X-Fi using the 5.1 analogue cables that come with the speakers, not the optical/coaxial (as they main features of the...

    X-Fi Fatal1ty Platinum Champion Series

Anyone actually figured out what's new with the Champion Series card then? There must be something! http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-050-CL&groupid=701&catid=11&subcat=

    Question for X-Meridian owners

Thanks for that, nice to have an honest opinion. tbh I love my X-Fi, I really do, and I really love the CMSS upmixing, it's why I've stuck with them... but the Vista drivers basically keep cutting speakers now and again (not completely, you can still hear the bass, just no foreground stuff)...

    Question for X-Meridian owners

I am loooking at buying an X-Meridian, and will mainly be using it for upmixing Mp3's. I have an X-Fi right now, but just cannot put up with the Vista drivers any longer. One thing I do love about Creative cards is the CMSs upmixing mode called StereoSurround, which I prefer over the...

Computer problem - nothing on screen

Think it was the PSU, as the PSU from my machine worked fine! Gotta find a cheap-as-chips replacement now (it's my brothers machine, or else I'd get a nice one).

Computer problem - nothing on screen

Basically we're having a problem with my brothers computer where the PC turns on but nothing is on screen. We've tried 3 GPU's with the same problem, so it's not the GPU. The 360 works on the screen, so it's not the screen. The rear fan also does not spin. Given this, and the lack of any...

Need Adivce on new Sound Card - X-Fi?

I know the X-Fi's have optical, but none of the cards features such as EAX, upmixing etc are functional over optical due to the cards lack of DDL/DTS Connect encoding. That is why I said not to get the X-Fi if you plan to use optical.

Need Adivce on new Sound Card - X-Fi?

Don't get the X-Fi if you plan to use optical, something like the X-Meridian is regarded as the best bet there. But the X-Fi is probably the superior card overall, even over analogue. You'll certainly see a huge jump in sound quality either way.

    X-Fi Fatal1ty Platinum Champion Series

Anyone know what's actually new about this new Champion series? Or hell, what's so special about the Fatal1ty range?

    Replace X-Fi XtremeMusic with X-Meridian?

Cool. Optical isn't essential if the X-fi sounds better over analogue. I do like the CMSS 3D and Crystaliser stuff on the X-Fi, just wondered if all this DDL/DTS Connect hype was worth it.
