Are you just removing old finish? I think scrapers work better than sanders for that. Look for cabinet scrapers, plus the gooseneck cabinet scrapers (for grooved/recessed areas) are very useful. Also a carbide scraper for paint removal works much quicker than sanding. Plus you don't waste loads...
No, I'm just wary of cheap Lithium-Ion cells! Annoyingly they are out of stock (of protected button top 18650's), but I will keep an eye on there for them coming back.
Thanks
Dave
Just email them rather than call them. You can state things out clearly and explain the situation. The son of the people who use to own our house got some debt collection letters sent to our address threatening bailiffs, a quick email to them and I never heard from them again. Which was...
Just put an old Maglite LED upgrade bulb on the members market if anyone is interested? (MODs delete that if it's not allowed?)
Where is a good place to get decent protected 18650s that won't spontaneously combust and burn my house down?
Dave
The electrician who wired our first house had his parents ancient henry as site hoover, he had given up using bags completely and it was working fine sucking up rubble and plaster from where he had chased the walls. The henry I have is a hand me down and has been used for all kinds of filthy...
Track saws are a more accurate and cut cleaner as they have a splinter guard on the track. You can make decent cuts with a circular saw and a straight edge, just not quite as good!
Dave
For a first circular saw on a budget I don't think you could go to far wrong with this:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/evolution-r185ccsl240-1200w-185mm-electric-circular-saw-220-240v/285fj
Do you need it to be corded or cordless, what is you budget and will it get used a lot or just for the odd...
Yeah, a plunge/track saw is a game changer. I bought one a few years ago and it gets loads of use. That said, I still use my circular saw a lot too, they both have their uses. I think as a first saw for someone a 185mm (ish) coreded one is a good place to start. Then you can add more saws as you...
I rarely use the sander attachment. I use the metal cutting bit for cutting nails/pipes etc in situ. I also use the wood cutting bit to make punge cuts for sockets/pipes in plasterboard of through floorboards. They are also handy for under cutting door frames when fitting laminate. It's not a...
You can get re-useable henry bags with made of canvas with a zip on so you can empty them too. Check amazon/ebay.
I use my henry attached to the sander whenever I'm decorating, it massively reduces the amount of dust I produce. You still need a dust mask/respirator and some eye protection as...
Sleepers are usually 200x100mm. All but the very biggest circular saws won't cut the full depth of them. I have a 235mm saw that does about 90mm, then I finish the last bit off with a hand saw. I have also done it with a 185mm saw and just flipped the sleeper and cut from both sides. I don't...
I cut a few paving slabs with an Evolution (185mm) Circular Saw with a diamond blade, it worked much better than expected and gave a decent cut. It struggled a little with some of the thicker slabs, I'm not sure how a dinky little saw like that worx would mange? It did make a hell of a mess, but...
Most of the eBay tool sellers are legit, avoid non uk sellers and non business sellers. Fixit, Abbey Tools, FFX etc are all DeWalt dealers. Take advantage of the frequent eBay voucher codes. I have never seen any DeWalt tool competitively prices on Amazon.
DeWalt stock is always poor. I had to...
This is my mini rack in the garage. I'm gradually adding to it as I'm running all the cables. I don't think I need that many more doing. If you are going the DIY route then a cable access kit is essential, as is a label maker and a sharpie. Label everything as you do it as you will never figure...
Ubiquiti Access Point, I never want to have to use the low grade ISP supplied one again.
If you cook, make sure you have a decent oven. We put up with an rubbish fan assisted gas one for years. We switched to a new AEG electric fan one this year that was a massive improvement.
Tools: Don't go...
I don't think they do a longer version of those fittings, but their gripping strength comes from the deep threads on the sides rather than the depth. Those and the grab adhesive would provide plenty of grip. I normally use the cheap no nonsense screwfix stuff, but I'm on a tube of Soudal T-REX...
That's a tricky one, as all the decent plasterboard fixing rely on the cavity behind them to grip and spread the load.
Does the TV need to be completely flat against the wall? Will you notice if the TV sits a little proud of the wall? Is this an end wall, or can you easily see down the...
