    Happy St George's day!

I guess even in a pub where they have an oil painting of the Farage, you will get wierd looks if you come dressed in a bin bag with the Union flag on it.

Too many credit cards? aka "The Credit Card thread"

Had Amex in the past and never used any of the additional benefits, it was cheaper getting an holiday on discount rather than using points on their site. Personally, I use the Halifax travel card as My travel credit card. The forex rates, free cash withdrawals and interest free, if you pay the...

    Happy St George's day!

When I think of St. George I think of Greece. I would love to be in Kos today, loads of parties, weddings and horse racing on farm yards. Apparently they do a 24 hour pilgrimage to the highest peak on the island.

How do dodgy apps on firesticks work?

I’ve messed with kodi, xmbc and a load of other stuff in the past.. never really used it afterwards. Like most stuff of this nature the time it takes in upkeep is too much. My brother brought a dodgy firestick from someone he works with and it constantly needs updating. A lot of people now a...

    Telephone repair

Not sure where you live but around here they getting rid of analog lines all together. My isp keeps trying to get me to switch to full fibre to the prem, which I keep refusing as I don’t want them drilling holes in my house till I’m ready to redecorate. The number of people in my village who...

Pension fund performance - do you monitor yours, how is it doing, do you actively change it?

Dude, the S&P 500 averages out at 10% increase per year, I would be happy with a 12% return for last year or any year. The US market itself, IIRC was running in the red until November when it went up to +27%. Pension funds should be invested in low volatility stocks, therefore you won’t get...

Pension fund performance - do you monitor yours, how is it doing, do you actively change it?

It depends on your portfolio and the manager.. if it’s in an accumulated etf it will just buy more shares for that company so one of shares of the ETF will hold more shares in that company, if there’s a portfolio manager they may by more shares in the same company or a different company.

Pension fund performance - do you monitor yours, how is it doing, do you actively change it?

The difference between the markets is that the US has a majority of growth stocks, where the company re-invested their profits in themselves and the prices per share is expected to go up. The majority of the UK market are divided stocks where they give their profits to the share holders, when...

How much crap do you have on hire purchase?

0% on transfers or/and purchase is getting harder to find with term periods getting shorter. A few years ago, companies was offering it for 3 or 2 years period. Now it’s less companies and shorter periods. There’s a worry about kicking the can down the road with the amount owed snowballing...

How much crap do you have on hire purchase?

Technically I have two watches on hire purchase, well 0% fixed term loans with around 5k on them left.. the cash is in the bank earning interest. I did buy my fridge freezer on 0% credit about 4 years ago but paid it off quickly as the payment site was a PITA to use and I couldn’t setup a DD...
