Hi,
Thanks for your post. I'm not sure how this would help though? It's failing to boot from the SSD, which is a known-good boot disc, and seemingly instead trying to boot from the non-boot HDDs for some reason. But I'd say the issue is boot order/selection, no?
Sorry to throw this to the forum but I've not managed to find anything useful with google...
Short version- I have a fairly new windows 7 install on a Crucial MX100 SSD, which works absolutely fine in isolation. But if I connect any other drive, it fails to enter windows. Failure mode is the...
I think I saw your post actually! It's always possible someone else'll get better results in a different setup I suppose. But it's good to know, tbh it's done a good job and spread the cost of the build (or rather, let me spend more on the grapgics card) so I don't mind the loss anyway. But...
Yeah, I can't find a 4690k or i7 for those prices or it'd be pretty tempting. Used would be fine but there doesn't seem to be any around
(I guess this is exactly why we don't havr private messages, to stop us sneakily swapping competitor recommendations ;) Fair play really!)
OK I guess this is a question of 2 halves. Looking to upgrade a disappointing G3258 which runs cool but won't clock over 4.0. It was bought as a stopgap costcutter so I'm OK with that really...
So, upgrading. Looking to spend under £200, and the 4690K seems to tick all the boxes. But is there...
Oh, interesting that! But maybe with an impact on noise? I'm not looking for silence but I'd like to keep it sensibly quiet.
Though with this case I can fit a larger aircooler without having to dismount the board anyway I think, so, I guess it makes sense to just go ahead- easy to fix if need...
Hi guys,
Every couple of years I log back in here and start one of these threads :) I'm really very behind the times and not very clued up on modern kit- time for an upgrade, from my Q6600 :D This is designed to keep the initial spend down but with ease of upgrading since, as you can tell, I...
Getting tempted to upgrade from my antique Q6600... It seems to be a little tired, just had to drop the overclock on it to a mere 3.5ghz to keep it stable :D well, it has been 7 years I suppose. Tried replacing the thermal paste but it didn't help.
Anyway- at the moment it's Q6600 g) at...
Job's a good un, straight swap in and everything good as gold (and the Be Quiet is quieter than the old Corsair to boot). Took me ages to work out the wiring, I used to know this stuff. Decided to swap my speakers over at the same time and that turned out to be an incredible pain in the baws...
Hah, it was on discount yesterday :) Old one was a Seasonic (well, Corsair branded) and it did good but the Be quiet's got a good rep so thought I'd give it a go.
Yeah, that sounds like good advice. Ach well full steam ahead, one Purepower ordered!
Funny thing is, I built the machine myself but taking it apart just now I have absolutely no idea what's going on inside it. Wires everywhere, fans at all different volts, I'm sure it made sense 6 years ago...
My old Corsair 520W psu just kicked the bucket... Proper massive blue flash, no smoke but lots of smell. And now, a bit stuck for what to do next, so any advice'd be very welcome
The system's old but solid- a Q6600 G0 on a DS3L board, 8gb of (fast) ddr2 (reaper I think) with a slightly newer...
Righto, pleased to be able to close the thread with a success, and you never know, it might be useful to someone else...
Had a think about what's changed since my last install, since everything else is literally off the same discs and to all extents and purposes on the same hardware. So...
OK, cheers- went straight to Realtek for the drivers rather than Gigabyte this time, no change unfortunately but that was a good one.
Under Device Manager, (Sound, Video and Games Controllers) I get 4 incidences of "High Definition Audio Device" and one incidence of "Realtek High Definition...
This one's for my fellow skinflints with old kit :p
So anyway- short version got a P35-DS3L which has served me very well. Windows was going a little flaky so decided to replace hard drive and reinstall. Full new Win 7 64 install, installed mobo drivers, everything is working fine except no...
