Anyone moved from perm to contractor / interim roles and regretted it? Finance / accounting.

Not sure what industry you're in... If it's tech, don't be tricked into thinking FTE is secure. Layoffs everywhere and without warning, still. Thought we'd seen the end of it last year, but it's still going on. Job security is an illusion. You might find something and be happy there for a few...

Arctic freezer ii and Asus tuf gaming b650-plus

7800x3d. Was going to be a 7950x3d but got convinced that was overkill. Not wed to this AIO. Currently looking at alternatives. Priority is quiet

Arctic freezer ii and Asus tuf gaming b650-plus

Ooo that's a nice case. I have a hard requirement of not seeing into the case *on the left side*. The right side is facing under my desk so nobody sees it. Reverse configuration makes this case appealing

Ah! So, switching to an AIO without a VRM cooler should be fine? (assuming the VRM temps are ok)

Arctic freezer ii and Asus tuf gaming b650-plus

Ahhh! That's super useful. Hadn't occurred to me it might be about the case. Looking at the meshify 2 so will take a look. Offset mounting: it's mentioned on the product website and even has a pretty picture. https://www.arctic.de/en/Liquid-Freezer-II-360/ACFRE00068B

I've seen some comments that various AIO coolers don't fit this motherboard in the offset position due to enormous heatsinks on the motherboard. Has anyone paired these two together? Would like to know if they're a good physical fit before slinging money on an upgrade. Thanks!

    7950x3d upgrade spec check

Curious what you'd go for if AMD. I've been reading up a bit more and looks like AMD has the edge on Linux

    7950x3d upgrade spec check

Thanks for the thoughts. I probably should have put coding first in my list. That's why I wanted the oversized CPU. But, I'm increasingly convinced by the 7800x3d for the simplicity of the uniform cores. I'll never be wondering if something is running the wrong way. I've since switched to...

    7950x3d upgrade spec check

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade from a 3700X. Need something a little meatier for gaming/coding. For what it's worth I'll be running Linux because I'm really cool. Here's where I've landed: PSU: Corsair Rmx 750w CPU: AMD Ryzen 7950x3D GPU: Probably some Nvidia 4070 Case: Fractal Design North HDD...

The PSU is only a year or so old after the last one died on me.

Upgrading my 9yr old PC... sanity check please

I looked at the Tomahawk Max, but, the lack of on-board wifi made it a no for me. That said, I could just get a new usb wifi dongle (I'm also planning on wiring the house). Looks like the Tomahawk max is cheaper. Guessing it's worth the extra? :)

Upgrading my 9yr old PC... sanity check please

I'm a software engineer and a gamer. I also have a HTC Vive. I'm looking to upgrade for extra performance on the VR side and also on the coding side (the project I work on has a lot of docker going on and more memory/cores would be good here). I have an existing PC from 9 years ago that has...

    Point of View Cards

Hey, Just seen this card: Point of View GeForce GTX 275 I've never heard of "Point of View" before - anyone know if they're any good? Or, if they are quiet? I'm after an nVidia card for around £150 that is reasonably quiet... unfortunately, a lot of the recommended cards are out of...

Asus GeForce GTX 260 Glaciator+ Noisy?

Hi, Anyone know how noisy the Asus GeForce GTX 260 Glaciator+ is? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-213-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=927 Not sure I can cope with waiting for the BFGs to come back in stock :(

Akasa Eclipse-62: Will Micro ATX fit?

Am working out my new spec for an upgrade and one of the suggested motherboards has a Micro ATX form factor (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-209-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1495) I have an Akasa Eclipse-62 case that I intend to reuse. Will this motherboard fit it...

It's not - but I can wait... not ordering for ~2 weeks as going away... just sorting out what I will do when I come back :D

    Quiet Quad-Core Build

Here is what I'm thinking now: I'm thinking that spending an extra £150 for future upgradability and a debatable performance increase (there are benchmarks pointing both ways) just isn't worth it. Realistically I'll be upgrading again in a few years and 1156/1366 will be on its way out...
