    Haswell-E on 2011-v3 mobo

You update your existing LGA2011v3 motherboard bios first before putting in Broadwell-E.

How many of you are going to get a Broadwell-E CPU?

There won't be a Skylake-E this year. We will have to wait till 2017 at the earliest for them. It wouldn't make sense for Intel to release Broadwell-E if they also plan to release Skylake-E in the same year just a matter of months to replace it. Besides, it looks like we won`t see AMD...

How many of you are going to get a Broadwell-E CPU?

I might upgrade but only if it is faster clock for clock than Haswell-E and overclocks just as good.

    Upgrade. Where to?

For all we know Broadwell-E might actually overclock quite well, just as good as Haswell-E. Just because the current mainstream Broadwell doesn't overclock very well doesn't mean the enthusiasts versions for the X99 platform will also be the same.

Is the CPU landscape going to change much in 2016?

It would be great to see AMD in the lead again by quite a bit like they did before forcing Intel to really push the performance envelope like they did with Intel Core 2. The Intel Core 2 was quite a leap in performance compared to what was out at that time by both Intel and AMD and was a...

Is the CPU landscape going to change much in 2016?

We could see a Skylake-E release in 2017 which will replace the x99 platform at the high end and possibly might come with 10 cores or more as standard going by their Broadwell-E release for the x99 platform in 2016 having up to 10 cores.

Is the CPU landscape going to change much in 2016?

It was posted in another topic that AND themselves estimated 40% performance on top of Excavator for Zen and based on this, people estimated the performance of Zen to be around that of Haswelll. I guess we'll just have to wait and see when it is finally released and we see the real...

Is the CPU landscape going to change much in 2016?

We hope Zen does arrive in 2016. From the information we got, Zen is supposedly around the Haswell performance which is not that impressive. The longer it takes them to release it the less impressive it will be considering it will be up against whatever Intel has out or about to release around...

    Zen news 'Going forward'

I hope they do deliver as well but I have a feeling it will be little too late. By the time they release them for buying and if they are around Haswell performance, it will be close to 2017 by then where Intel is supposedly be releasing their next in line extreme platform Skylake-E.

    Broadwell-E Price points and ETA?

Intel won`t do that with Broadwell-E. Releasing them only to cancel them a couple of months down the line. I can see their point when they did it with the mainstream Broadwell because they were also in the process of launching mainstream Skylake therefore making mainstream Broadwell a waste...

    Skylake of Haswell-E ?

Intel won`t be bringing out a new chipset and socket out for Broadwell-E but I have heard that some motherboard manufacturers such as ASUS is waiting for Broadwell-E before releasing their X99 Rampage V Extreme motherboard refresh, the black edition or whatever it is going to be called. I...

    Skylake of Haswell-E ?

If your doing 50/50 between gaming and editing, then X99 is the way to go because your editing needs will greatly benefit more from this platform and have very similar gaming performance to Skylake and perhaps better performance in games that can use the extra cores the X99 processors have...

Broadwell-E Core i7-6950X Flagship Processor To Rock 10 Cores

The main thing is how well these will overclock. I here people saying Broadwell overclocks like crap. I assume this assumption has come from the fact that the mainstream versions that were released on the LGA 1150 platform, during testing by some people, they didn't overclock very well at all...

Broadwell-E Core i7-6950X Flagship Processor To Rock 10 Cores

I wonder if the flagship i7-6950X will be able to overclock to at least 4.5Ghz fairly easily with good cooling. I would be happy if it does overclock to that or at least 4.4GHz fairly easily.

Broadwell-E Core i7-6950X Flagship Processor To Rock 10 Cores

Very interesting if this is true. This definitely means Skylake-E won't be released until at least some time in 2017 because it seems by the Broadwell-E core increase and lineup they want Broadwell-E to last quite a while as their top flagship enthusiast processors for the desktop. If this...

    Skylake vs Haswell E

Skylake-E could be released by the end of 2016, Q3 or Q4 perhaps but I cannot see it being released any earlier than that.
  17. Sylver123

    Skylake vs Haswell E

How soon do you think? I can't see it being that soon because what's the point in them releasing a Broadwell-E for the X99 extreme platform when they plan to release the Skylake-E extreme platform not long at all after to replace this extreme platform entirely. If it is that soon after...

*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Only at the mainstream. If Intel don`t have Skylake-E out the same time Zen is released then at the high end, Zen will be up against Broadwell-E. Zen will be an 8 core and Intel mainstream processors are 4 cores so obviously Zen will be up against whatever high end 8 core chip Intel has out...

Intel Broadwell-E Scheduled For Launch in Q1 2016 – Will Feature 8 and 6 Core SKUs, Retaining Suppor

I wonder what price you could sell a Intel i7 5960X for once Broadwell-E is released to buy. I expect you could probably get at least £500 for it if it is a good overclocker? or will the Intel i7 5960X go right down in price retail once Broadwell-E is released and so likely won't even be worth...

Intel Broadwell-E Scheduled For Launch in Q1 2016 – Will Feature 8 and 6 Core SKUs, Retaining Suppor

I might upgrade to Broadwell-E if it is faster than Haswell-E clock for clock and overclocks higher due to it being on 14nm process. If it is then I will probably try to sell my Intel i7 5960X in MM. I should get buyers as this chip I have is able to run stable at 4.5Ghz at around 1.22v. I...
