*** Official Hyperoptic Discussion Thread ***

Just in case you still need help, or anyone else reading this thread does: I did quite a lot of reading/research in to how to get the VoIP/phone working whilst using another router, but found that the only way was to purchase a separate phone adapter. I don't actually use the Hyperhub at all...

**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Fortunately it wasn't bricked after all. As I suspected the phone was still on, but must have frozen hence not responding to pressing buttons/plugging in the charger. Eventually it ran the battery down and then switched off. After that I was able to charge it and then turn it on as normal...

**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Aaaaaand now my phone is bricked. Well, the screen won't come on and it won't respond to pressing any buttons/plugging in a charger, but I believe it is still on as it is getting hotter and hotter (it's currently sitting in my bathroom sink in case it decides to create an indoor bonfire)...

**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Since installing the September update (regular S7) my phone has been soft-rebooting fairly regularly, and I'm getting a lot of "Unauthorized actions have been detected" security notifications. Anyone else experiencing the same?

I'm not sure if Android has that function, but at least with WhatsApp there is a setting within the app to display "Pop-up" notifications. You can apply separate settings for group and individual chats.

*** Official Hyperoptic Discussion Thread ***

Here is the picture of where the cable comes in to my flat (2nd floor of an apartment block): It's essentially just a grey Cat5e cable. That picture was taken with the flash on, so whilst it's by no means invisible, it's less noticeable than that picture would suggest. I may well paint...

*** Official Hyperoptic Discussion Thread ***

Can you provide a bit more information about how you have done this? And is it your Netgear router that has DHCP enabled? I would like to buy my own router to replace the one supplied by Hyperoptic, but was informed by their CS that if I wanted to carry on using the VOIP-phone line I would...

    Windows 10

I'm trying to install an application but can't because Windows says "The publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine". It is an older version of the software, which is why I am getting this message, however I don't want to use the latest version. It goes on to say that I...

Chromecast - can it stream from a NAS?

Another option to consider is the CuBox-i: http://www.solid-run.com/products/cubox-i-mini-computer/ There are a few different models. The more expensive one has WiFi as standard, and it can be added to the others as an optional extra. The SD card that it comes with can be preloaded with...

    ** INSANITY PRE-ORDER 24-48HR ONLY DEAL ON CURVED 34" DELL MONITOR!! **

Has anyone else got an A01 revision that can comment on any backlight bleed? There were suggestions that it was fixed/improved from A00 to A01 but I haven't seen many comments yet from A01 owners.

    Anyone got a Galaxy S3??

I've just had a look at the battery in mine and there is nothing that I would call "bulging", but there are some ever so slightly raised parts on one side of the battery. Hopefully you'll see what I mean from the picture I took:

    *** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

My Nexus 7 is now saying that the 5.0.2 update is available, but I'm still on 4.4.4 (it hadn't received any updates before now oddly). I have rooted the tablet and installed TWRP, which seems to be stopping 5.0.2 from installing. What's the best way of going about upgrading? Edit: Think I've...

SATA 2 vs 3 with SSD

That's normally my mentality too, but the controller card I have seen is only ~£20, whereas were I to get a new motherboard, and therefore a new CPU, heatsink and potentially RAM, then I'm looking at hundreds. I don't really play any games anymore so despite being ~5 years old my PC does all I...

SATA 2 vs 3 with SSD

Thanks for your reply, some very useful info there. Firstly, regarding using my motherboard for RAID, it does have the capability, but it's a little complicated. My mobo is a Gigabyte EX58-UD5, with 6 SATA ports that use an Intel controller, and the other 4 using a JMicron controller. I did...

SATA 2 vs 3 with SSD

Hello, I am going to be buying a PCI-E SATA controller card (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CC-004-SR&groupid=701&catid=49&subcat=424) to run my two mechanical HDDs in RAID 1, and I am considering buying a second to use with my SSD to get the benefits of SATA 3. As...

Arizona nine-year old in Uzi gun lesson accident

The reason why I, and I'm sure many others, dislike gun ownership laws in America so much is not necessarily because of deaths like this one that happen on ranges (that's not to say it's acceptable of course, but people on ranges know the risks and accept them, in much the same way as racing...

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Has anyone else had problems with loading certain videos on YouTube, either currently or in the past? Over the past week or so I've noticed that certain videos just won't load, or if they do they take a while and then may only play for a little while before stopping, and I'm unable to change...
