Who could afford over £4,000 for a PC!?

Moores law states relative power doubles every 2 years so depreciation is likely to be at least that much also. Premium parts will depreciate even faster, I estimate at least two thirds of RRP lost in 2 years. I bet theres detailed statistical analysis on this tbh, its big money after all...

Intel Dual Core from £79 +VAT

Yes your right there but I think all recent chips are the later revision so its probably indirectly stated on the outside of the box. I dont know the date for the crossover point, any time this year maybe. The code mentioned in the review ends in sl8zh

    Question...upgrading AGP to PCI-E

What you should do is go back and top their claims with how the pc shop guy said you would have to replace every single component because the agp flux circuits have tainted your hardware. Even the case would have to be replaced or the whole system could melt, see if they nod wisely :p...

Is 46c ok for a athlon XP 1700+ cpu?

For a couple of hours work thats reasonable, if you felt bad you could offer to check up on it later for free or something. The main thing is you did the job right

805d best for cheap video editing rig?

    Memory Suggestions for Conroe

Is that because of the memory controller not being on the cpu? I can get a deal on 3x ddr2 chips but was worried it will slow or stop the dual channel effect. Dual channel is worth 10% performance ? What would be the suggested ram for an 805 at 4ghz, it has to only require half the...

DDR2 PC4300 RAM --- Intel Setup but a little confused. Need help.

Its different on Intels, the memory controller isnt on the cpu I think ? So its not bound to be twice as much like it is for AMD. (Though it can run async of course) QDR I think means it will quad the fsb for the bus speed. Your 100 ram speed is dam slow yes but how much bus speed can...

Who could afford over £4,000 for a PC!?

200 pounds for a psu :D If it can jumpstart my car then fair enough. Four grand used to be fairly normal for a top spec pc at one time, pc have got so cheap now. Poverty spec 486 in '93 was 800 pounds. 1k was cheap still. 2k was getting on for average and then 3 or 4k would have...
