Is it worth upgrading a E6420 now?

Currently got an E6420 running at 3ghz, and have the option of putting my 6420 in another machine and going for a new CPU. The Q6600 looks like the most worthwhile upgrade without spending silly money, but will I get much more out of it, considering I don't do any video encoding (I will be...

    E6320 & E6420 Early release

And some people even have them early :D Will be posting overclocking results later with my E6420, currently have a lot of work to do, and need to get rid of some problems on the rig as well (vista loves being a PITA whilst installing)

    e6420

Possibly, but if they had em I think they would be shipping them, as they know so many people want them. I've ordered my E6420, but it still hasn't been dispatched yet, I think they might have said they got em in stock, but not send em out till the 23rd, which will really FULLY STAR OUT...

    X1900XT 512 vs X1950Pro 512

This ain't on, I feel for ya man. I know you can't say who it is, but is it a big, well known company?

NVIDIA 8600 GTS arrived at OcUK Today!!

Hehe, glad I didn't wait to see the pricing of these and went ahead and got a X1900XT of the echo. Looking at the specs on OCUK, that card looks awesome. Think a big "DON'T BUY" label has to be put on the picture though! I can see these selling quite well though... as someone said, remember...

    Noctua NH-U12F CPU Heatsink... opinions?

Yeah, but a lot of components aside from the cpu/gpu still get hot. There's HDD's, NB, SB, voltage regulators, ramsinks on graphics, otherside of the core on the graphics card, there's loads of heat outputting devices. With watercooling, you might only need a small amount of airflow in the case...

Titan Amanda TTC-NP04TZ TEC & Heatpipe Cooling Fan

AFAIK, if it's like other TEC coolers, it will need the power, otherwise it is just acting as a normal heatsink. Someone who has one though should confirm that to make sure I'm not just making that up.

    spec me a quiet psu

+1 I couldn't fault my S12 in a single way. Rock solid voltages, loads of cables with good length, and dead silent. In my silent pc, can't even hear it at load.

**Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

Just checked out their mosfet blocks, look pretty good. Though isn't it adding unnecessary heat to your loop, some regular heatsinks would be more effective surely, as they can be around 80C with no stability issues IMO. Just placed an order for the quadgt, as well as an E6420. Let's see...

    ***The Official 6320/6420 Overclocking Thread***

I'm not expecting much out of them, as IMO it's just going to be like the 4300...decent, just not great. A really good 4300 chip will hit 3.6, but they're as rare as gold dust. Plus they seem to need a lot more heat and volts. Sure, it's superb for a budget chip, but when there's the E6320 which...

Intel Price Cuts : Quad core for £350 ?

Looks like Subliminal Aura ain't lying, it's out there lads. Took me a while to find it though. ...I'm sure OCUK aren't liking all this, I think we should leave it how it is...it's out there...just required a bit of thinking outside the conventional methods of searching! Please no emailing in...

    ***The Official 6320/6420 Overclocking Thread***

Yep. Hopefully, now intel's manufacturing process is very efficient, these are just fully functional top of the line conroe's. Can't see E6700's selling that well, as I'm guessing most people jump up to quad for that price range, so hopefully, for under £150 we're getting the top of the range...

Intel Price Cuts : Quad core for £350 ?

5 I've found it for £399 ex vat, but that's still a pretty damn good price.

Ooh excellent! Was expecting to wait over 3 weeks till I was able to build my c2d rig:D! Seems odd only 3 or so e-tailors have them in stock though, hurry up OCUK! Let the overclocking begin lads... (ooh, and sorry for posting, but we all knew this thread was gonna be more than 100 pages)

**Official ABIT AB9 QuadGT Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

This board does look very promising. Seems abit are already starting to iron out some of the problems, which is good news. AFAIK now there aren't any MAJOR issues with these boards? Was digging around on the net and found a review by anandtech here, who show the high 1066 strap is really quite...

    E6320 & E6420... :D

I posted that review in the other 6420 thread a while back...the E6x20's look like we're in for a treat. The E6420 clock was using 1.6V though! Intel might be releasing them deliberatly with the opportunity for huge clocks (anyone remeber this with the old mobile bartons being released?). Just...

    e6600 OEM

Not for core 2 duo's for some reason. I'm guessing the price difference between them and oem is tiny, so they choose just to stick with the retail. AFAIK the original CPU's sold from OCUK were OEM though. OEM's normally just come in protective packaging, not normally even paperwork (the old...

    AMD Barcelona Core

A 3.8ghz clocked conroe is pretty insane when you think about it though. This is by no means official, but surely a 3.8ghz conroe even destroys a Q6600?

    OCZ Hydrojet CPU Cooler

Yeah, pics have been around a while...looks very intereting. Can cool 350W? That's insane...if true. It could just be some PR crap though, it's happened before.

    E6400 @ 3.6GHz or E6600 @ 3.4GHz ?

If you're not using it, I'll be happy to take the burden off yourr hands.... At most, the extra 2mb cache is reported to equate to about 200-300mhz. Also, there is a chance you could go higher than 3.6 with water, which would be awesome. Up to you though...in a way you might be able to make...
