did you move any sensors at-all after doing the set-up? that can confuse it. The other possibility is USB bandwidth if your headset and sensors are all plugged in to the same usb controller. try it with one sensor unplugged and see if it still does it.

I would be surprised if it doesn't work in rift because steamvr stuff generally does. If there's anything that doesn't work it's normally bad mappings to the touch controllers.
