    Advice on MSI GE66 Raider 15.6" i7, RTX 3070

Had mine for about 4-5 months now and it's been pretty great tbh. Performs amazing in games and I've got it set now with some Throttlestop/Afterburner tweaks so that the CPU goes no higher than 80 degrees and the GPU no higher than 75 degrees at high loads which is very good for a gaming laptop...

    Gaming Laptop - £1,500.

Got a GE66 with a 3070 myself, if you can stretch to £1,700 I would defo recommend one. Very powerful and the thermals are great after a little tweaking.

Not that I've seen, ones with 12k+ GPU score seem to be either Lenovo or ASUS with a 140W vBIOS. Could be CPU related perhaps.

Seen a few now with 12k+ GPU scores, here's an example. CPU clocks don't seem that gimped to me?

Yeah I did think that, but if I run the Timespy benchmark with the demo option turned on, during the demo the GPU boosts all the way above 2,000 and the scenes look practically identical to those used in the benchmark. I've aso seen Timespy benchmarks from ASUS and Lenovo laptop owners with the...

Maybe you should give CrystalDiskInfo a download and see if the temp reading there matches up with what the other two say? Just checked and it defo shows the flash memory temp and not the controller. One other thing and this is for any GE66 owners out there, during your Timespy runs are you...

Hmm, wonder what that chip could be? Where are you getting your SSD drive temps from btw, HWinfo? Maybe it's reporting the controller temps which are normally quite a bit higher than the flash memory?

    GE66 Raider

The temps I posted were for the flash memory, HWinfo also shows a drive temperature 2 for one of the drives (the samsung one), this I believe is for the memory controller and that temp reading is normally around 50 degrees at idle and can max out at 65 or thereabouts. However after doing some...

Checked my two SSD temps whilst playing the Division 2 which is a pretty demanding game, the pre-installed Samsung SSD was around 45-47 degrees, whilst the 2nd SSD which I installed myself was around 35-38 degrees. Not sure what's going on with yours, hope you can get to the bottom of it. This...

How strange I have no mention of g-sync at all in my nvidia control panel.

Oof, that's good, I wonder if you can hit 12k graphics score if you had the 140W vBIOS. I may be tempted to give Timespy a run with those crazy overclocks you've used just to see what I can get and sate my curiosity :) What do you mean when you say you disabled G-Sync btw? I was sure the GE66...

+100 core and +400 memory, sure I could go a bit higher as the temps were still super cool on the GPU (under 60 degrees) but tbh I'm happy with where it's at now. Jimbo Mahoney - Be careful not to update your BIOS to the latest version available atm as I've read numerous reports that it locks...

Took me all of 5 minutes. I followed this guide which although for an old GPU is still applicable to the 3070 - https://www.overclock.net/threads/easy-nvflash-guide-with-pictures-for-gtx-970-980.1523391/ Link to download nvflash - https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash/ Here's a...

Yeah it's super handy and folds away so it doesn't take up hardly any room. In other news I recently flashed the 140W GE76 3070 vBIOS to the 3070 in my GE66 and am now hitting some crazy scores on Timespy :) Temps have barely risen at all (1-2 degrees at most) and during the Timespy run below...

Oh quick tip, not sure if I've posted it already. But if you want a nice stand that fits the GE66 perfectly to raise the back and aid with airflow. This one is perfect. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Z3HVPDG

Pretty sure it's what I said as when I clicked on the task view button I had a window in there running called mainwindow as well :) Here's another thread about it - https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/voicecontrolengine-exe-is-showing-on-my-desktop.361244/ "You can remove it by ending...

so weird, try running those commands in the link i sent to see if that throws up anything. Anything in task scheduler that looks out of place too?
