The way I generally do it is I build a PC that is somewhere between top of mid range and bottom of top range and keep using that until I struggle to run the latest games. This current one has lasted me 5 years on that basis. I predominantly play Battelgrounds at the moment and it's struggling...

Hey mate, thanks for your reply but did you actually read my post? I did the paperclip test with 2 different devices (I don't have a fan that has a suitable connector though).
