Do people use managed switches in their home network?

The main switches in my house are a Dell partially managed and a HP/Aruba managed switch in the loft. The only thing I currently do with the managed switch is I've created a VLAN to keep my CCTV traffic separated on the switch although it is also physically isolated in terms of actual wiring.

    Why's it my fault

Why would she not care that her own property is being damaged by water for 13 months? She sounds like a clueless landlord to me?

    Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Retentions deals are hit and miss. I was paying £19.25 for 125mbs with a landline and this went up to £50.25 back in Nov, best they could offer me was around £32 so I handed in my notice. I had a single call from retention from a guy who clearly didn't want to be there, offered me £29 a month...

What is that? What TP-Link router do you use? I actually tested the Velop mesh and it seems to work really well from what I saw. I only have 2 nodes, so the main router and a child and if I look on the Linksys app as I move from the front of my house to the back I can see in the app that for...

    Seagate 8Tb drive issues

I have an 8Tb Seagate drive that was in my CCTV desktop, the drive went offline so even Windows couldn't detect it, powered the desktop off and back on and the drive was detected and the drive was usable but again the same thing happened, so I pulled the drive out. Plugged it into another...

    NAS

With my old Lacie NAS I just used a Linux distro to boot up off with the drives connected to the desktop, for me the Lacie was configured with RAID 0 so I just mounted each disk in turn to get the data, took bloody ages to copy though.

I’ve only got 150mbs and they gave me a CF branded Linksys MX5500. I also have an MX5600 as a Wi-Fi repeater.

    Massive Car insurance costs?

Just renewed mine a few days ago. Last year it was £422, this year renewal came in at £680 but renewed with the RAC for £527! Another thing I’ve noticed is the base excesses have all shot up, with the RAC compulsory is something like £350 or £400!

    Macrium reflect?

I’ve been using the free version of Reflect now for years. I’ve not found it the easiest to use so for entire disk to disk same size it’s fairly easy but change the source and it target and it gets a bit more confusing.

Wi-Fi router with the best range/coverage

Thanks for the suggestions, thankfully the router is quite central within the house and sat on a unit. I had thought about raising it up, might give that a try. In terms of searching, I did look back at the last 3 pages of threads and read a few.

So, this post office palaver then

Vennells has always stated that she won’t be handing back her CBE, personally I think she’s only handed it back now due to public pressure but more likely with the story making headlines everywhere she’s done it to try and protect herself.

Wi-Fi router with the best range/coverage

I know that there probably isn’t a correct answer for this as I appreciate that it all depends on the house, structure etc In my house in India I have a TP Link VR900 ac1900 router which works fine but the coverage upstairs in the bedrooms is a bit roped, works but is slow. Adding a wired...

I’ve not had any issues. I like you couldn’t initially port forward but I queried it with them and they have switched me over so that I now can. Just seems to work for but I have noticed that if you lodge a support ticket it takes them about a week to reply. Latest tickets logged is I want a...

So, this post office palaver then

I’ve been following this for quite a few years and the PO are grade A idiots at saying one thing and doing another. On the one hand they are stating that people should appeal their convictions but on the other they are refusing and worse still using the allocated pot to take money from to say...
