to minimise the cost upgrade you would sell now before official specs come out, play Dwarf Fortress for the next 12months whilst you try to get a Blackwell GPU that surpasses the 4090 performance
yes that is true in the historical sense but what they could also do is keep selling the 4090 and give mediocre uplift on the 5080 (like they did with the 2080 series) and price the 5090 to the moon.... unfortunately. Then when they want to wrap up the 4090 they drop a 5080Ti or something like...
ok but try it and you will see yourself
I'm not anti Meta btw the day they release a product that meets my needs I'll be on it like a rash, I am anti-Meta influencers thou those guys can "****" right off cos they spread bias and misinformation which sours the VR community imho
yeah so you are comparing backwards based on your experience, try a Crystal and see what you think maybe take the Quest Pro with you. I'm not saying the Crystal is the perfect headset (it has its compromises too they all do) but you'll soon see the image compromises in the Pro
the lenses are decent, but its just one part of the package you have screen resolution/eye tracking/compression/FoV/inside out tracking/controllers/local dimming/brightness/colour/comfort/price
what other headsets have you tried?
Yeah so GN didn't really make any predictions it was more commentary and thoughts where as NAAF rightly points out a 5090 'like' gaming GPU will be on the same process node and therefore based on historical data can expect up to a 30% improvement unless they radically up the die size possibly...
I don't think we'll get a massive upgrade over the 4090 this time, what is pushing Nvidia to do that and even if they can with these interlinked die's there is no way in hell they are selling that to consumers at an already phat margin. They will want to sell that stuff to the datacentre & AI...
I went from the HTC Vive Pro2 (itself an upgrade from Quest2) to Crystal and yes the difference is really noticeable, in Elite what you'll see is the local dimming and the overall clarity being night and day difference.
Crystal with DMAS is the one to go for if you want the best audio/visual...
there used to be a SteamVR benchmark and an OpenVR one too
but you're better off imho running a dev or performance tool whilst in game to see where the bottlenecks are and making comparisons with other IL-2 players
I've got it mounted now, I'll have a play with it this afternoon.
I've ordered some smaller extension parts as well to try along with the physical limiters its going to require some experimentation to get right...

For task use yes, the back rest system on the Please is superior particularly if you are prone to moving about in the chair.
I'll try and do a video over the weekend as there isn't a lot of info about this comparison, there are strengths and weaknesses to both.
