Trying to upgrade to Windows 11 - Arrrghhh CSM

Confirmed. System finds the GPT partitioned USB boot disk and off I went. Nowhere is this mentioned that the boot disk needs to be GPT. Windows 10 installed and is now upgrading to 11 :) Many thanks for assisting :)

Trying to upgrade to Windows 11 - Arrrghhh CSM

Creating the GPT bootable Windows USB boot disk right now with Rufus. When I (if I can) boot with this and reinstall Windows 10 - as first step to upgrade to windows 11 - I hope that it will give me the option to select the GPT on the SSD prior to formatting it.

Trying to upgrade to Windows 11 - Arrrghhh CSM

Been trying for about three hours and I have built a ton of computers before. Gigabyte Z370 gaming 7 OP (rig is in sig) - latest F15 firmware from Nov 2021. System already has legacy mode enabled with Windows 10 and it all works perfectly. Every bit of reading I have done suggest all I need...

Update Synology Disk to a larger sized one??

Hi, thanks. I have a few 1G portable drives plus a 4G on my workstation. I may just copy stuff over to them, swap the disk in the Synology and then copy back. I can then redeploy the 8TB disk as extra storage in my PC

Update Synology Disk to a larger sized one??

....I could buy two 14TB disks, put one temporarily in my PC, copy the data from the NAS onto the PC, install a new 14TB (the second one) disk into the NAS, copy the data back onto the NAS and then move the one from the PC into the NAS for redundancy (which should do anyway). However, 2 x 14TB...

Update Synology Disk to a larger sized one??

Hi all, I have a DS216+ with a single 8TB disk in it. Great NAS by the way. I want to upgrade it to a 14TB disk. Other than drag all the data off of the current NAS disk onto something else (that "soemthing else" needing to be very big!) , install the new 14TB disk and then copy all the data...

*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Been "behaving" for three weeks. All good food and minimal simple carbs with no alcohol. I lost it last night - Friday night - and scoffed a small box of Maltesers and a third of a tube of Pringles. I just could not stop myself buying them. Fortunately, did no further damage and poured water...

*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Agree on all points Tom and no, it is not a long-term fix. I appreciate your view so I don't construe what you post as a xxxx post at all. But it is still a good way to drop weight in a reasonable time scale as I know from experience. I concede it is not sustainable, as I mentioned (and you...

*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Precisely, in a nut shell this is what the book is about. Elimination - or as close to that as possible - of as many simple carbs as possible. All simple carbs promote a huge insulin rush and this shuttles the calories of all food into fat cells. To get your body burning its fat away you must...

*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Inspired by this book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0307474259/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've lost about 7lb in the last week. I've pretty much eaten whatever I liked with as much as I like with the exception of simple carbs and alcohol. Those are...

The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Me. I bought a 58" frame Tiagra group-set bike for £130 off of the bay - works brilliantly. Tiagra is ample for a turbo bike. Now a permanent fixture on my Wahoo Kickr turbo and frees up both summer and winter bikes for use depending on the British weather.

The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

Do you guys leave the Zwift difficulty setting on the default 50%? Does riding at 50% kinda defeat the purpose and training effect? I can't get my head around this.

I'm fit but fear I am a binge eater/drinker and need to seek help

I can cycle well - 50 - 100 miles or so. I'm quite muscular too and can bench 100kg. I am 6" and weigh 17 stone 10 currently. I have 38" waist that feels tight. I had a BUPA heath check that said all my blood levels are good but I need to lose weight and my BMI is 35. I have a tendency to...

    440i coupe opinions pls ????

I am new to the 4 series, currently in a 2014 535D F11 MSport estate. Toying with the idea of something different. I really like the look of the 4 series coupe, 440i MSport. Quite a few fully loaded ones 2018-2019 on the BMW used site at reasonable money. What is the 440i like for real world...

*** The official late 2020 Mac mini thread (it has the M1 chip and everything!) ***

I doubt they will update the Mini M1 again anytime soon which is why I bought one. A year at least; they will want to maintain the distance between the mini and the new M series iMacs. And when they do release a new Mini, remember that Apple HW maintains its value very well, especially if you...

    Microsoft RDP on M1 Mac

Ta mate, I shall check it out. There are a few freebie ones like screens, VNC etc, neither optimised for M1 as yet and only RoyalTSX that you have put me onto seems to be optimised. I prefer to stick with MSOFT if I can but it seems they are in no rush to port RDP onto M1 so I will have to...
