Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

第一次感動~U2442N(開箱) - Mobile01 Have a look at that link for lots of pictures of the Gigabyte laptop. Not sure how he managed to get his hands on one... (use google translate and then you have to click on all the links where it says 'picture' to load all the images) Looks great...

Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

Unfortunately they have low-res glossy displays, so that completely ruled them out for me.

Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

I also have been looking into the new Sony Vaio Z laptop. You can put together a great spec with it: Ivy Bridge i7 QUAD-Core (full mobile processor, not low power), 1080p screen, 8gb RAM, 128gb x 2 SSD in raid. However the price is very very high, coming in at around £1800. It is also not...

Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

Update on my search: Not going to be buying until the end of August when hopefully a few more options are out there, but at the minute, top of my list is the following: ASUS ZENBOOK UX32VD - Amazon US Link I would then get the Crucial M4 128gb 7mm SSD to replace its stock HDD and also a 8gb...

Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

Ridiculous that you have to select that outrageously overpriced upgrade to 256gb SSD to go for the 8gb ram option  If they would allow you to select 8gb ram without the 256gb SSD, it would seem that laptop could be ideal for my needs (albeit a couple of 100 over - budget). Slim form...

Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

Thanks for the feedback. Few decent options out there and I will add MBA onto my list, but it would have to have an ivybridge update and a higher res screen for it to be a runner for me. As a sidenote, has the MBA proven it can run Windows 7 as good as windows based laptops? As for my wanted...

Thanks. So it's a no brainer to go for that Coolermaster one then? Any issues with reliability that you know of?

New Build - High powered i5 ivybridge PC

Thanks. My first build, so in a line or two, what is the difference between a modular PSU and the one I have above?

New Build - High powered i5 ivybridge PC

With my spec above, would there be any issue with cable length from the PSU reaching the motherboard, SSD etc?

New Build - High powered i5 ivybridge PC

Does the speed of the RAM make a big difference if I am not going to overclock or would it just help with resale value down the line?

New Build - High powered i5 ivybridge PC

I think I have finally come to a decision after some great advice on here. My needs have changed somewhat and my budget has gone up as a result... Needs: Media playback and general PC browsing. DVD encoding and possibly BluRay playback/encoding in the future. Software development, web...

Ultrabook/thin laptop wish list - Buying end of summer

MBA is far too expensive for what you get imo, especially when I would have to go and buy Windows 7 to go along with it. Hopefully an Ultrabook appears in the next 3 months that ticks most of my boxes from above.

First time build - New i5 Media PC

Apart from what I listed above, is there anything else I would need to buy for my first build? e.g Thermal paste, any extra case fans etc?
