I just don’t see the point of a taycan apart from a huge tax right off. You can get better (range, boot space, interior and performance) for a lot less.
You are literally paying £60K+ for the badge. So no wander they depreciate like a stone
Beer and maths don’t mix and I have correct. The point is the advantage of an EV from a tax perspective is huge.
It’s the reason why I’m justifying putting more into my car (to get an EV) as the overall net is I’m better off.
I will also save £150 a month on fuel.
When I brought a Civic Type R. A tracker actually put the cost up! So I got the dealer to remove it before I took ownership.
Things might of changed now that any car with keyless entry can basically be stolen in a few seconds these days.
Benefit in kind (BIK) = list price of Car * BIK rate (2% for EV) * highest tax bracket.
So as a basic rate tax payer with a standard model 3.
£40K * 2% * 20% = £160 per year (edit corrected maths)
A ICE car BIK rate is driven by CO2 and can be very high.
A PHEV is driven by EV only mileage...
No need at all. All they will do is capture road tax onto EV’s (see 2025) and charge dute on your charging.
Your proposal assumes VED and fule duty actually goes to support the road infrastructure. It doesn’t it’s just tax revenue.
Edit, my bet is around 25p per KWh for home charging.probably...
Complete BS.
My system has my incoming supply split using Henley blocks. Then one goes to my house consumer unit. The other to the car.
If I move the CT from my hybrid inverter to only monitor house load the car charger is irrelevant.
Edit: this is dependent on how your supply for you house...
You just need to move the CT clamp from the battery system so it can’t see the car charger load.
Most installers add a separate consumer unit for the car charger. So if you move the CT to only see house load. The car can do what it wants.
Then a bit of home assistant magic can force charge the...
Who have you used to insure. My wife is now serious considering one and is having problems getting quotes.
Something to do with the name change from “funky cat” to “03” that the insurance underwriters don’t recognise.
Not quite as you are mixing pre tax with post tax. The way to do it. jump on a tax calculator and compare.
Current position of no allowance and current BIK reduction to personal tax allowance.
Salary + allowance = take home - (post tax calc)
Rember the whole lease cost of the car needs to be in the 40% band to be effective. If you are just hitting 40% it’s same as being a standard rate tax payer.
So salary + car allowance needs to be in the £60k+ range to get full benefit. Assuming £800 per month pre tax cost)
I would ignore your...
Things to consider.
Do you actually want an EV?
What is your salary, therefor what tax band are you in. If in 20% band they are not that effective. These schemes can be very effective if you are in the child benefit claw back zone. Does it impact your pension (NHS employees have this issue)...
