you guys need to say what crop factor you are all using. on my 1.5x D3100, i'd go with something similar to the kit lens. the 17-55mm f2.8G looks excellent if i had the money.

i've not shot a lot under artificial lighting, but i've not had any problem with my Hoya HMC UV filter, even at silly angles when shooting sunset. also got a D3100, with 18-55mm kit lens, 55-200mm cheap lens and a 35mm f1.8G. all got the same HMC UV filter on them for protection.

you are missing the point. FPS -> frame per second. by definition, it should be average number of frames recorded over that second, so those unless those 10 stuttering frames are within 1 second, the minimal figure should should not be affected. and if those 10 slow frames are within 1...
