HIS ATI Radeon HD 4650 Heatpipe Silent

Does "competitor name" refer to S*** C********? Hardly a secret, or an endorsement - it is relevant that the exact wording appears somewhere else as it gives sa clue to its source.

***The AGP & PCI-E Graphics Card Buyers Guide***

Very useful, thanks for all the effort. For the next update, clarification of HD TV capabilities might be useful, specifically which are HDCP compliant (i.e. they'll play Blu-Ray DVDs), which can connect directly from a DVI to a HDMI socket, and which will really support 1080p/50 Hz playback...

HIS ATI Radeon HD 4650 Heatpipe Silent

The blurb says that "...it does not emit any noise and can be used semi-permanently". This wording appears on the Scan Computers site also, so clearly came from the manufacturer. What does semi-permanently mean exactly? Does it go bang after X hours of use?

Have you seen the Kinnear press conference transcript?

Oops! Still, as we know, swearing is both clever and funny.

Have you seen the Kinnear press conference transcript?

It's easy enough finding it without linking to it...

"battery manager" for cars - does such a thing exist?

More specifically I have a 20-year old car stashed in the garage which I take out occasionally. It's generally touch and go whether there's anything left in the battery once it's stood there for a few weeks. My ideal solution would be to install some kind of battery manager in the garage...

HDCP compliant AGP video cards and custom resolution

Thanks folks. Interesting advice. Turns out it's now going to be a Panasonic THPZ80B, so can use 1360x768 (or 1366 if I master Powerstrip) for 1080i standard, or full HD - according to how much I spend next door on components. :)

HDCP compliant AGP video cards and custom resolution

I have a most of an old PC lying around, and I'm about to acquire an HD telly. So, all I need is an HDCP compliant video card, and a Blu-ray drive, and I have the makings of a home theatre PC... Thing is, being oldish bits, the board is AGP. OCUK sells the Asus ATI Radeon HD 3650 (AGP)...

    Asus M3A32-MVP installation

Main reason for writing this regards a few installation issues that are to do with my particular installation but might just be of some general interest. Please note I'm not an expert or anything, just a tinkerer, so read it in that light. 1. I have a Thermalright SI128 cooler, which is very...

    Dual channel memory layout

Thanks furnace. One of those where you'd think so, but before you clip the actual expensive items together... :)

    Dual channel memory layout

I have one of the new AM2+ boards with all the copper plumbing on. I also have a Thermalright SI128 heat sink which I want to use. Now, the memory question. I'm using 2 x 1 Gb. The mobo has 2 sets of yellow and black memory holders, A1 and A2 (together) and B1 and B2 (together). The...

Crossfire bridges - supplied with OcUK cards or not?

Some cards specify they come with internal crossfire bridges, some don't. Example: for adjacent cards in the X1950 cupboard, an Asus one specifies it comes with them, an OcUK one doesn't say. can I assume the details are precise or not, i.e. if the OcUK site doesn't actually specify the...

Cooler for Athlon 64 X2 - what fits on the new AM2+ boards?

I fancy the neww Asus M3A32-MVP (AM2+) motherboard with one of the faster AMD dual core CPUs (maybe the 6400+ black box one). The idea is that in future I can drop in one of the upcoming quad cores when their price comes down. Question is, which cooler? I'm concerned as the AM2+ boards seem...

    AM2+ mobo status

My old Athlon XP2000+ is starting to creak under the load of Office 07 and I can feel an upgrade coming on. It occurs to me that if I could get an AM2+ board now, fitted with an existing dual core processor, the next upgrade could pretty much simply consist of dropping one of the forthcoming...
