3080 had a TDR error, now the machine won't POST with it in. Any idea how to diagnose?

Just to follow up with an update, my local computer shop validated that the card (it's an Inno3D) is indeed faulty, they are handling the warranty return to the manufacturer. Will hear back soon whether they repair, offer a substitute or credit note. Thanks for the help all!

3080 had a TDR error, now the machine won't POST with it in. Any idea how to diagnose?

It's a 1000W PSU, it's been running the 3080 fine for the last 18 months (including much more taxing stuff than what it was doing when it died)

3080 had a TDR error, now the machine won't POST with it in. Any idea how to diagnose?

Hi all, hope this is the right place for this post, if not let me know where to put it. I have an old machine with a new graphics card (2600k/B450/16GB with a 3080), and it's been working fine. 2 days ago, in the middle of playing a non-stressful game for the graphics card (Vampire Survivors)...

Making a new PC for VR - gear check please!

This is exactly the reply I wanted, thank you! Excellent point re the USB windows - I don't want an optical drive (I may buy an external one later), so I'll do that. RAM is more expensive than I remember so I will indeed drop to 16GB Going to check out the benchmarks of the NVMe and probably...

Making a new PC for VR - gear check please!

Hi all, my i7-2600k/16GB/290x is looking a bit long in the tooth, so it's being retired to be a workstation/music machine only. I need a new gaming machine. This is going to be mostly for VR (I have a Vive), so of course I want the usual future-proof/expandable yada yada, really I'm just...

LG OLED55E6V or Panasonic tx-58dx900e or something else?

    > In the end I went for the Panasonic screen as I found the blacks on the LG to be crushed ie details within the blacks were not that great. Interesting, as the hdtvtest review mentioned that, but then said the updates have made some stuff better. I will have to have a look at it up close to...

LG OLED55E6V or Panasonic tx-58dx900e or something else?

Hi guys, I'm looking for a new kickass big TV as I sold my old 1080p projector. It's going in a 6m x 5m room (probably 4.5m viewing distance) I'm going to use it for films (driven by an anthem mrx 710 with paradigm speakers and a PC running plex), gaming, and as the spectator screen...

    Can we all agree............

I have a 2600k, with a 290x and am still not hitting any CPU walls. I used to have it clocked at 4.6, but since having to replace the motherboard I've not clocked it back up yet and it's still performing wonderfully. I think those of us who got in with those got very lucky for a great...

The route to 4K - is it time, and if so, how?

The benchmarks I linked to showed pretty playable framerates for SLi/Crossfire setups, which should be about £600 of graphics card, and purportedly these are on max settings. Not sure where a figure of 4K plus monitor comes from, I don't think you CAN make a PC that costs that much ;) There...

The route to 4K - is it time, and if so, how?

Hi all, creating this thread as I couldn't find anything similar on here, though there are some other resources around the net. Looks like 4K gaming is pretty much going to be achievable this year, given what we've seen at E3 and some benchmarks of 4K gaming on current, single-card hardware...

New Thief trailer, let's hope this game delivers

Worth noting Deus EX: Human Revolution was heavily discounted not long after launch too - didn't make it any less of a good game (and it's bloody marvellous) having said that Bioshock Infinite was discounted a lot not long after launch too, and that's in most people's eyes one of the best games...

Where can I buy replacement EK components? Namely a spring for the CPU block

Hi pgi947, here is a photo of it with a penny for comparison - let me know if this looks like the same one to you! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-fBw08tkJ5jM/UhDGng6V8cI/AAAAAAAAFo0/TQ0_CtlE91o/w426-h758-no/DSC_0018.jpg Thanks :)

Where can I buy replacement EK components? Namely a spring for the CPU block

Hi pgi947, it's an EK Supremacy block, attaching to a socket 1155 motherboard, so I guess the 2011 posts/springs won't work? Having said that the block was provided with two sets of posts but one set of springs, see the pic in...

Where can I buy replacement EK components? Namely a spring for the CPU block

Hmm, if I can't find one somewhere, I may try taking another one along and finding an equivalent somewhere like there. Thanks!

Where can I buy replacement EK components? Namely a spring for the CPU block

So I had a faulty motherboard which I RMAd, and in doing so one of the springs from my EK CPU block pinged off and I'll be damned if I can find it. Where can I get one of these? I found a place in the US stocking them but don't want to pay $40 in shipping! I created a ticket on the EK...

Are thermal pads required on a full cover GPU block?

Hi all, I've been in touch with the manufacturer who agree the pads are needed for all but the RAM, they sell them as a pack so going to get them direct. Thanks for the feedback!

Are thermal pads required on a full cover GPU block?

Hi all, I recently bought a GPU block second hand (6950, so hard to find now!), which of course didn't have thermal pads included as they had already been used on the previous card. I was looking through the installation instructions, and noticed this: "Instead of the thermal pads, you...
